Texas fires Tom Herman

Texas hired Charlie Strong, Herman and now Sark. Why do we want to be them again?
Because a good amount of the people on this board are irrational, and think any quick fix like Texas has shown to be willing to do (e.g firing coaches constantly, recruiting solely in states like Texas, etc.) will turn us around in a year.

Must be nice that college leadership above coaching level wants more than collecting a paycheck from the conference or a wining record every year. One can only dream about that happening here

I don’t think it’s a terrible hire for them but a bit surprised that it took them this long (especially after another bowl win) to come to this conclusion.

Yet we’re stuck with a ******* idiot
We’re not Texas. It’s about the only school that can compete with Alabama financially.

That said, Texas has spent absurd amounts of money in the last decade trying to right the ship. This hire had better be right, because if it’s not they’ll end up further behind. Each regime change brings roster attrition, and the new coach brings in their own people. We found that out with our three regimes in the last decade. FSU is finding this out presently.

This will be the fourth coaching regime at Texas in the last ten years.

Texas not playing around anymore. You got 3 years or your gone. With the endless resources and bank vault available to any HC..I don’t blame them.
I would offer an alternative: you need to hire a AD-HC combo that has a 5-7 plan.

Obviously measured objectives along the way, but Saban isn't playing next Monday because he had a 2-3 year time horizon.

They’re not going to get anything but what they’ve had since Mack Brown got pushed out, by hiring Steve Sarkisian. Guy is head-to-head a worse HC than Herman by a mile. If they hired Urban or a guy like Luke Fickel, total slam dunk. But this really doesn’t make any sense on their end, especially with all their resources.

Isn't sarkisian the same difference as Herman? Both were offensive coordinators for great head coaches. Reshuffling the chairs on the deck of the Titanic

Texas' resourcing >>>> Bama's resourcing

And it isn't even close really.

That's why their [Longhorn] futility has been so perplexing.

Check me in 3-5 years on this prediction:

Sarkisian to Texas = Smart to UGA

Then again I predicted Nelson would never start again on OL, so there is that.

😳😬

This says it all! People need to stop comparing a tiny private institution in Coral Gables to what the #1 richest program in the land. This is pocket change to them and despite all of the $$ and changes, they haven’t won anything since Vince Young pull out a rabbit from his *** against USC.
The boosters were outraged at this season, and just as in 2016 they likely threatened to withhold funds.

There were also reports prior to the bowl game that Herman wanted out. Like Miami, Texas is a school filled with (at times) unrealistic expectations.

Reeks of a "we need an Alabama guy to find out wtf we are doing wrong here" hire.

You don't beat Alabama...or Ohio State...or Clemson trying to be them. You've got to find a new way and new identity.
Although with that said...

Schnelly da Gawd, our Lord and Saviour, did bring Bama program elements with him when he took over Miami.
