Texas A&M thread

The issue we have with TAMU is that they match all our strengths, Bain/Mesidor matched by Howell, Toney matched by Concepcion etc. The issue is they have Reed who is more dynamic than Beck and Craver who is better than any WR we have apart from Toney. We maybe have slight advantages at RB and K but with the home field advantage for them this game looks to track very similar to the Clemson UT playoff game last year. I don't think we get totally blown out, but it seems unlikely we can generate real game pressure in the 2nd half.

sure, but none of those matchups are really match ups.

Not at all. Our strengths match up well with theirs.

Pass blocking. Vs pass rushers.
Our D vs their offense
Our secondary, their WR

Potential watch outs is their run D vs our run offense. our linebackers vs their RBs and Slot in space. Malachi vs their nickel. Beck vs their secondary. (Depends on which Beck)

the people mentioned here do not play against each other.

Our path to victory is very simple:

- Run the ball well especially some outside runs to physically punish them and create consistent third and shorts.

- Receivers not named Toney need to capitalize on one on ones down the field when they blitz. I see a healthy CJ Daniels coming up big here especially with the NFL looming this is a great opportunity (would love for JoJo to have a big game but can’t depend on him)

- On defense, take away the first read and we must have lane discipline and don’t go sack hunting

- Limit the chunk plays to chunk plays not touchdowns

- Continue stuff the run

I think Miami's big dudes are better than their big dudes and Miami's QB is the better passer, the problem with A&M is they can do absolutely nothing special and get points because the QB scrambled or KC/Craver took a short pass to the house.

If Miami tackles like the Louisville game it will be BBQ chicken.

agreed, hence i wrote the following a few days ago:

most important players for me are: poyser, thomas and whoever plays nickel to take away chunk plays and run support. everything else IMO will go down as planned. they need to tackle like getting elite snowbunny puzzy next week depends strictly on it.

it is meng, not mane!

Isht on that noise. Stretching the field vertically will accomplish a **** of a lot more than between the tackles nonsense. We don't want third and short. We want first and goal.

That’s the second point I made. I think we will be able to run on that so we will have big play opportunities in the passing game.

I agree no more of that plodding offense. Can we please be lined up with like 12 seconds on the play clock too?

Watched the Texas game again. We have to be disciplined with the pass rush. I think we’ll see an FSU gameplan. While this Qb is shiftier he’s much easier to bring down and is not going to want to keep getting hit.

They are going to wr screen us to death….wr sweeps. When he does go down the field if you take away that first read he immediately looks to scramble. We limit those and rac plays we have a great shot at winning.

I LOVE TO BRAWL IN THE PARKING LOT BUT I HAVENT SEEN THE CANES WIN A BIG GAME LIKE THIS IN THE POST SEASON SINCE 2001 WHEN I WAS 21

I WILL BE IN COLLEGE STATION
You don’t think the 2003/04 Orange Bowl against FSU wasn’t a big post season game?

FSU was loud and we got them quite quick. Do the same thing. We contained Bailey and Tommy well. Defense will be ok. And offense is having fun again. As long as the offense shows up we good.
