Terry McCray

A lot of armchair experts. Many of you were saying the same thing about Mike Smith who turned into a very capable back up linebacker. Mike Jackson who blossomed this year -same way.I havent seen McCray in practice to make any judgement. You dont dismiss guys who know your system unless they are woefully inadequate. This staff has developed players .

Stop it.

It doesn't open up a scholarship for Storm18 if he leaves so I don't see why people want him to get pushed out senior year considering we are already going to be well below the 85 limit.

As of right now if we include Nesta Silvera, we have 78 Players on the roster meaning we have 7 open spots. Including Nesta we have 20 total commits in the 2018 recruiting class.

Commits we are Definitely still going after:
WR - Marquez Ezzard
OL - Jalen Goss
LB - Xavier Peters
DB - Tyson Campbell, Patrick Surtain

Thats 5 Recruits right there. And along the DL we need like 2 more DEs and 2 more DTs. that would be a total of 9 mo

So Unless I just counted wrong, which I don't think I did, We literally could be in a situation that we need 1 or 2 more guys to transfer out depending if we land all the guys we're going after or not. If It was up to me we would lose Terry McCray, Bar Milo, and Romeo Finley this year (and like 5 more guys next year).

More than likely we wont NEED anyone to transfer out because we're more likely to be limited by the Intial counter limit. I'd assume since Richt said earlier to expect between 24-27 in this class that would mean 27 is that max we can get...which would literally put us at 85 total on the roster without any transfers.

Why Romeo Finley?? solid explanation

Miami is not still going after Surtain. Dat ship has sailed and if he goes come with his teammates on da 26th it's a wink and nod curtesy ride along. Briggs they still going after and some others.

Why Romeo Finley?? solid explanation

Unless Romeo Finley moves down to LB, we really have no use for him. Robert Knowles was basically *** every time he was in, and he still received way more Snaps.

Romeo Finley - 55 snaps. 5 in the Clemson game. Essentially half (21/55) of his snaps came in the Bethune Cookman and Toledo game. What does that tell you when he Gets almost half the snaps he took on the season in the first two games, then barely played the rest of the season, and got out snapped by two true freshman in the final game of the year? Well it means He wasn't good.

Robert Knowles - 184 snaps. 7 in the Clemson game. Played a lot early in the season when Redwine went down, notably in the FSU game where he single handedly almost lost us that ******* game. Similar to Finley, except unlike Finley, when Redwine went down, he actually played a lot. And he still played as the season went on.

Derrick Smith - 111 snaps total. 55 in the ******* Clemson game as Nickel because Bandy was injured. Actually I think he mostly played nickel all year. Could be similar to Jaquan in that sense who is a safety not cb, but played a lot of nickel as a frosh. Clearly he has a role in this defense.

Amari Carter - 190 snaps total. 19 in the Clemson game as a backup safety. Well he clearly is our 3rd safety (after Jaquan and Redwine) to come in whenever neccessary. He jumped Finley and Knowles, and by the Syracuse game he was receiving pretty heavy playing time. And by the VTech/ND game he was vastly out snapping Finley and Knowles.

Then we gotta look at the fact that we aren't losing any safeties this offseason, and are actually adding 1-2 (Hall obviously, but Frierson or one of the other DB commits could play safety too). So Not losing anyone and are adding 1-2 more. Basically Finley is going to be getting a reduction in snaps from his already low number. Unless he tries to move to LB, I don't see the need for him....If we need room he should be gone. Knowles got more than 3x the amount of snaps as Finley for a reason. The three other safeties on our team doubled him in snaps. Low amount of snaps is to be expected for a player still developing, and there is nothing wrong with being developed. But if you are still getting < 60 snaps entering your junior year....well thats just plain bad.

I must be way off on my numbers.. I thought even with a full capacity class of 27 we would be around 80. Didn't look at roster. Still expect more attrition regardless but good to know.

If you look at the elligibility chart https://www.canesinsight.com/player/eligibilitychart.php?team=5
Currently there are 61 players listed, and 19 signed recruits, and 1 unigned recruit - Nesta Silvera. Totaling 81 players

But the Chart isn't right, so you gotta

add - Venzell Boulware, Gerald Willis....So +2

subtract - Dionte Mullins, Rj McIntosh, Kendrick Norton, Jamie Gordinier, Darrion Owens....So -5

81+2-5 = 78.

Between him and Mike Smith we've got two of south Florida's best recent high school pass rushers playing back up linebacker. At least Smith logged minutes as a reserve LB, I don't think McCray has played a snap on defense in his entire career. Maybe playing him at DE isn't a bad idea?

I dont think Mccray was EVER thought of as one of s.fla best and i think his stats were highly inflated.

Smith was legit as it appears hes a rotational guy at LB though would start at alot of schools in the acc

Your numbers are spot on.

Finley to LB makes sense considering we return everyone and just brought in Hall, Frierson.

McCray is one of the worst offers I've ever seen extended. Boggled my mind when we did it.

Some players don't even LOOK like they can play football. Like you can tell they're a JAG just by looking at them.

He's one of those. He's a microcosm of Golden's recruiting. I can only imagine the local kids we passed up for McCray.

Your numbers are spot on.

His number was 78. My number was "around 80" (in response to the 85 claim). You are telling him 80 is spot on but I was "way off" with 78. You do realize the difference is two, right?

Around 80 could also mean like, 78.

LMAO what? Your number was 80 even after taking a full class of 27. His number is 78 only counting the 21 guys we currently have for this class. So yes, your numbers are WAY off.

It's Friday and I have been drinking. Disregard my failure at reading comprehension.

You would be correct. I totally read that wrong. I'm an idiot.
