Temple game 2023 hotel

I love Philly, been down plenty of times. But prices have gone through the roof the past few years. I refuse to spend a rack on this game. F that.

I'll drive down. Hit the game, grab a cheesesteak, party, and grab a spot near the airport. Easy breezy.

No pregame cheesesteak? We need a deeper commitment from you. 😎

This is a big game.

Got you... How's this sound:

1. baconeggandcheese (one word in NY) for breakfast
2. cheesesteak before the game
3. roast pork sandwich after the game
4. copious amounts of beer and bud
5. massive duke when I check in later that evening

Sounds like a good game plan! How you do anything!

My go to Hotel in Philly is the Element Downtown. If you need a little more swanky it’s attached to the W.

We doing a CiS tailgate?

Been to Philly twice In my life. First time about 30 years ago during college road trip and I thought it was an absolute ****hole - trash everywhere, etc. I last went about 8 years ago and was pleasantly surprised especially with center city. They’ve done a great job with that city.

I stayed in Center City the first time I was there. Our hotel was real nice, and directly across the street from the reading terminal market.

Center City was real cool. One night we walked down to Sonny's. Saw a bunch of characters on the way. Area reminded me of NYC in the 80s and 90s.

Any truth to the rumor of it’s turned ******/unsafe-ish again?

I'd imagine there is a lot of validity to the rumor. Philly is a tough town - always has been.

In NYC, DAs are dropping over 50% of felony arrests that come across their desks to misdemeanors and violations, hence "crime being down."

I originally from Miami but I now live in South Jersey. I plan on going to the game. Anyone have suggestions on which section I should purchase tickets? And if UM fans will be tailgating?

I reckon we’ll have a better idea in august when tix go on sale. I’d be down to set up a tailgate, moved up here in 2019 and have been missing a good canes tailgate. Most people here don’t care about college football unless they went to Penn state. I’m bringing some friends of mine that are Rutgers alum so they don’t have any real interest in college football, hoping to show them a good time.

Before moving to FL, I grew up in Kensington back in the 80's; now? I wouldn't walk my old neighborhood in a bullet proof vest, helmet and pants, it is really sad. The hospital I was born at is now a drug rehab facility.

Agree with those posts above, Rittenhouse Square area is great, good restaurants and fairly safe. I would say to keep north of about Spruce Street, and just a couple blocks north of Market.

That said, I still have family way north of the city near Sesame Place, so will stay there and make the 40 minute drive down.
