Definitely!! Cooney is well respected in the south but is still viewed as a rookie/pup. Telly's reach would be an amazing upgrade.

So he goes from playing linebacker in college to coaching on offense. So what? Even a guy like Al Golden started his coaching career on offense and jumped to defense coaching a position he never played in college. So your argument is not even relevant.

That is not the point. If he can coach lbs in the pros coming from an offensive background and a position he has never played what makes this hard for Lockett to go from coaching offense to defense in college in a position he has played?

You're confusing possibility with qualifications. Yes anything is possible. No he is not qualified. Golden actually coached defense earlier in his career and has significantly more coaching XP than Lockette, including defense. It's embarrassing UM keeps giving these first time gigs out and expecting different results.

Golden coached defense for 9 years before the NFL btw.
