Would love him. He was an amazing coach here and at FSU.
Because it isn't realistic.
I like Freeze but he isn't taking a half a mill paycut to come here. I could throw out a bunch of names that would be great hires but they aren't realistic.
He's not taking this job.

Realistic? It isn't unrealistic to hire a successful coach from a lower-tier school. Can we finally agree UM fans don't know sh*t and just throw out myths believing they're true?
All people ever talk about is Miami doesn't have money to hire anyone or will only consider the same names we've been throwing out since 2006. What is this based on? Larry Coker was one of the highest paid coaches when he was here. We supposedly were considering Jon Gruden as well and he wouldn't have been cheap.
No one knows who UM would consider and how much money they have to spend it's all assumptions.

The entire history of Miami football.
Why Freeze? Lets throw 10 mill a year at Saban. IF not I'm throwing 8-9 at Chip Kelly and stealing him from the Eagles.
This should be an easy search this time considering we have unlimited money.
I am not sure Hugh Freeze's Bible Camp bull**** would play down here like it does in the Deep South.
He's a religious guy, so what?

How is Miami going to outbid Ole Miss for anything? Shaw would not leave where he is for Miami. McElwain would take the Miami jobThe entire history of Miami football.

I'm really curious to hear about our history on paying coaches. Do tell.
Moreover, now you're just distorting my original statements. This idea that we can only find 1-2 million dollar coaches baffles me. This myth that we don't have money is never substantiated.
I look at Miami as a top school in the college football world. If a coach comes here and has success he would not leave for another college coaching job. To mention Saban or Kelly reveals to me that you are completely missing my argument, which was never stated that Miami has some unlimited cap. If Miami can't afford to get a coach from a school like Ole Miss or any other lower-tier school then we have bigger problems because the college football landscape will just get more competitive with salaries.
I chose Freeze because he's rarely mentioned and has had significant success. I don't like coordinators and I am also curious about Jim McElwain and David Shaw. If there's anything Miami's football history reveals is that it will hire a coach who has showed success at a lower-tier school or position, but not that it doesn't have money.
Does anyone remember that he coached some of the greatest secondaries in CFB history (01-03)?
Does anyone remember that coach that coached some of the defenses in CFB history (01-05)?
You clearly didn't take my comment on its face. I don't appreciate the assumptions and the sarcasm.
Douchery notwithstanding, I'll respectfully reply to your comment. Randy's defenses as a whole got progressively worse. He rode on Schiano's coattails. The secondaries were consistently good under Stoops.
I'm saying success once doesn't always lead to success another time. I think Stoops is in the wait and see category.
Very true. I like Stoops as an X's and O's guy. If he can prove to be a good CEO while at KY, then he might be a solid candidate. We might need to wait for fair data -- it's his first gig.

Well the Shaw thing is pretty simple no sane person would leave the Stanford job for the Miami job. I think Miami could spend over 2 mil but outbidding a school like Ole miss is unrealistic. How is Miami going to outbid Ole Miss for anything? Shaw would not leave where he is for Miami. McElwain would take the Miami job
Except for the last statement how does Miami's fan base know all of this? Have we been in mediocrity so long we have such a low criteria?
Basically, this is what everyone assumes Miami will do:
1. Hire a coach for 2 million dollars max and anything more is unrealistic
2. Can't have any on-field or off-field incidents while they were coach
3. See 1

Some schools that pay their HC more: Northwestern, Utah, Washington St, Kansas, Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, TCU

And recently what do they get for that money?
He shouldn't. He hasn't won or done anything. There are better options. Who cares what a coach shows from an emotional standpoint if they don't have it upstairs from a technical perspective? We don't need a ra-ra guy. We need a proven winner with a technical background.
Yet you'd keep Al Golden.
You know that ridiculous FSU defense from last year? He built it.
I don't see how you read the rest of my post and concluded I want to keep Al Golden. Al Golden is not a proven winner or technical guy. I don't care what defense Mark Stoops built. I'm not in favor of hiring coordinators or a guy without a resume. What top school does? I'd like to take a look at Hugh Freeze.
Tell that to Texas Tech who might have the biggest up and coming coach in CFB.
You wouldn't hire Oregon's OC Frost? Baylor's Montgomery? Lulz but ya lets look at Hugh Freeze who after next season when his monster class from last year leaves will be sucking extreme rod at Ole ****
