Harrigan can safely be placed in the bad **** category and is a man of integrity. He was a member of the United States Secret Service and is a Anti-Terrorism Instructor/Mentor for the U.S. State Department.
~U of M Alumni, Ted Harrigan said; as a Miami Edison High School Red Raider Football State Champion and former University of Miami Hurricane football player, I feel blessed and fortunate to have been associated with players, coaches and teams that have encouraged Christian devotional/prayer prior to each game.
A game prayer and National Anthem, always gave me a sense of security that no matter what the results of the game may be, I personally felt a unity with my country, with my team and it also made me cognizant that there was a higher calling that kept my Christian values in check.
Coach Mark Richt gave every member of the football team a Bible with their name embroidered on the cover. Richt is a believer in tradition and prayer prior to games, but does not force any of his players to believe anything that they do not want to believe. The student athletes were appreciative of his gift of the Gospel and they believe that he is not just another coach as he honestly cares about them, and they trust him.
Since Coach Richt was hired as the new coach at Miami, he has restored hope with the Hurricane Nation by reinstating a successful football program, which has been lacking for many seasons. Richt is also not afraid to suspend players when they fail to meet UM’s standards set by his football program.
As for me, Richt has class and he is a coaches “Coach”. This is a coach I would want to play for and I wish him the best for continued success on the football field and in his recruiting program.~
