"Teams like Ole Miss give us problems. Look at Louisville and SMU"

I think people’s biggest mistake is they think because SMU and Louisville have some similarities offensively to Ole Miss that they’re similar teams. They aren’t. SMU and Louisville were both top 25 in yards allowed per carry, Ole Miss is close to 80. And while Ole Miss is better on a yards per pass allowed basis, SMU and Louisville complimented those run defenses by being top 15 in INT per game, while Ole Miss is, again, close to 80.

If you can’t stop the run and don’t force turnovers in the backend against this Miami offense, you’re probably in for a long day.

Louie Louie and SMU were Ls.

However Miami got there (costly penalties and mental errors big factors) those mistakes simply can't be repeated against Ole Miss or the Rebels will make our Canes pay dearly.

If (for the Fiasco Bowl) we commit penalties like we did against aTm and Taint, we will be fiiiiiine...

But if we have Lou-SMU flashbacks, it will get ugly.

It's all good. I just think it is harder for us to pile up points when we are playing Top 10 teams. That is all. But I certainly would not mind breaking 30 on offense.
I definitely low ball us when making predictions. I know that this offense doesn’t score a ton, but is definitely capable. I just think that this team gives us an opportunity to put up points. If OU can put up 26 with a hurt Mateer and UGA can put up 45 and 34 with Gunner Stockton, I like our chances.

Rewatching the Louisville game the team looked lifeless so many mistakes on Offense and Defense it looked like this team sat on their *** and did nothing for 2 weeks before that game.

SMU has some similarities but between the refs and Dawson's head up his own *** at that point of the season I felt like that was an issue more than anything SMU did.

Overall didn't feel like tempo hurt us anymore than it does any team. If anything both Louisville and SMU had to slow down at times because it wasn't working. This is such a different team from those 2 games now, honestly can't even imagine having a performance like that at this stage.

Louisville - they scored 14 points in the first 10 minutes. Then, 10 points in the next 50 minutes. Beck tossed 4 INTs. That's it. Just the combo of those two things, Miami's defense being not-completely-ready for Louisville's first-quarter scripted offensive wrinkles, and Beck's mistakes costing us 4 scoring drives, including the final drive of 54 yards that was about to yield either the winning TD or the game-tying FG.

SMU - Beck tossed 2 INTs, including one in OT. But it was an OT game.

We scored 21 against Louisville and 20 against SMU. Our two lowest-scoring games of the regular season, in games not involving aTm, massive winds, and a post-season game.

If anyone thinks we will be held to 21 points or less against Ole **** on a neutral field, they need to explain WHY. Since the SMU game, Carson Beck has thrown ONE INT across six games.

As for OUR defense, it has been fearsome since the SMU game. We have given up 10, 7, 17, 7, 3, and 14 points in the last 6 games, half of which were against ranked teams (including two CFP teams). That is an average of 9.67 points per game across 6 games.

So if I were to guess, I'd say that 24-10 or 28-17 would be two of the more likely winning margins that Miami will post against Ole Miss.
We also forget 7 of those first 14 points by LVille were on a fake FG that everyone except for our players and coaches knew was coming.

Our offense had stagnated by that point with only A gap runs and tunnel screens being the main play call. SMU it opened up a bit more but injuries 100+ yards in penalties and some bad plays hurt us.

Been saying this same **** for a week. It's a really lazy take. People just see we lost to SMU and assume their tempo gave us problems. They scored 20 points on us. Their 2nd lowest output on the season.

They got 5.54 yards per play on us, again, their 2nd lowest output of the season.

I'll tell you what, Ole Miss can have SMU's production against us. I'll sign up for that right now. Give them 20 points, and give us the football 10 times, and we'll see how it goes.

Do they though?...the Canes lost those games not because both of those teams offenses went nuts on us...in those games, both teams benefitted from Canes mistakes on offense, not because the defense couldnt handle their offenses. SMU and Louisville got a lot of breaks in those game. Sure, they got some yards, but scoring wasnt easy. This team has left that team behind...they are focused and locked in. Canes 31 Ole Miss 20
Louisville we lost because we got down early and never recovered, and by not recovering I mean we played about as bad as humanly possible with Beck throwing what was it? 4 or 5 picks? I know he threw one but it got called back on a bad roughing call. And we still could have won the game and should have at least sent it to OT, but Beck threw a pick well within FG range. Lost 21-24. It just wasn’t his day.

SMU…don’t get me started. Did we play that ****? Yes. But that game was absolutely decided by some of the worst officiating I’ve ever witnessed. It was like Lashlee had 5 “who wants to be a millionaire” type lifelines in his pocket every time the game would have been over. Sack fumble for us to begin the 2nd half? Replay overturns it despite questionable evidence. Obvious DPI on SMU? Ref picks up the flag and they say phantom holding on us. A play runs on 4th and long and every player including SMU’s OL didn’t hear the whistle and our defender doesn’t either, gets to the QB but lets up? Penalty and first down SMU. That’s 3 horrendous calls that kept SMU alive. Idgaf what anyone says. That was complete horse****.

Oh and Louisville and SMU are good teams. Not great, but good. The media tried pushing the “2 bad loss” narrative but anyone who watches football knows it’s bull****. Louisville is 9-4 with 2 wins against CFP teams. 3/4 losses against P4 teams above .500 by about an average of 3 points. How are they not ranked again?

We had played only one other game in almost a month PLUS it was a Friday nighter which are usually already lacking energy. We played the gator on Sept 20th, Louisville on October 17th and only FSU in between. ACC did us absolutely no favors with that ridiculous schedule.

These games are where the offense has to do their part. UL and SMU had some success but the defense still kept them to points where we should have won even with average offense and no turnovers. We of course have to run the ball. But we can hit some big plays as well. Toney should eat here. For me, as long as we dont turn into a turnover machine, we are good. And that's with me accepting Ole Miss, moving the ball. Im going 31-20, 28-17 type.

Let’s not forget our arch nemesis in the SMU and ‘Ville games; ACC Referees.

As long as our game is not officiated by an ACC crew, I think we are good to go. And God forbid it is an ACC crew, hopefully they will agree to let the outcome be settled on the field and not treat us like playground bullies who need to be reined in.

FYI, I think we do bully Mississippi. Albeit a higher scoring game than OSU, but with a similar margin of victory.

Ole Miss will likely need another near heroic performance from Chambliss to beat us. Miami only has to play the way they have been since early November. We don’t need an outlier performance.

Ole Miss offense is good but they have not lit up the scoreboard every game. Miami’s defense is proven and no team has had sustained success against it all year. None.

Miami shows up big for big games and that will continue.

We’re good.
