These are our team rankings at ESPN, Rivals, 247. If we land some others we could hold down top 5 come signing day. Some stats to consider. Our average star ranking or the quality of our class is 3.5.

- 3.5 avg star would actually be the second best class since 04 in terms of quality. 2005 class was only higher.
- looking only at rivals. We only have one top 5 class since 04.
- bama has 6 top 5 classes. Ohio State and Fsu have over 4

GOLDEN IS DOING GREAT JOB OF RESTOCKING QUALITY TALENT.

But But But we got no elite recruits lol? Like i said Golden might be a below average gameday coach but he is an elite top 5 recruiter in the country..

I personally think this stuff is great and we can all see we are getting great players...

But I have read many times on this board that rankings don't matter, I'm now confused. Lol.

I think given the level which recruiting has grown to, these services have been pretty reliable. I mean the all star guys have done great in college and they tend to get the best players right. When it's a 3 star that's when it's a crapshoot.

we have 30 freaking kids committed. let's be happy with who's here and giving us a top 5 class. we will have a lot more going elsewhere than coming here in the next 2 months. so, be happy with who we have, not who we don't.

We need JC to put little more umph in the d of this class. Getting Cook would make serious statement that we have come to end of the slide. the gator is upside down. We took Coley form feather heads last year. If we can pull Cook at the end this year in a head to head it will send message that the free ride is over. Then we just need to fix the D.

I care about filling needs more than recruiting rankings. We have filled every need this recruiting class, so I'm happy.

11th in avg ranking, which is pretty good, seeing that we have quite a few three stars. A little more attrition, than any of dixon, jc, cook, etc. and we will def be top 5 in both categories.

we have a lot of underrated talent Young, Smith, Owens, Harris, Gibbons will all prove to be better then the ranking

Gibbons is a 4 star on every site except scout and same with Owens. Trent Harris is a composite 4 star as well. Young is the one who is really underrated especially by ESPN..

An astute comment. That's been very important aspect of our best teams. The way JJ and later, Butch, found talent and built teams.

Yes, an important consideration is assessing recruiting success, especially if you put together several succeeding years in which you address needs.

I remember back in the late '80's when a friend who followed recruiting and practices closely told me that areas of weakness had, within a year, become areas of strength. Watch for this to happen again.

Just to compare it to Auburn who is in the national championship this year...

Auburns class rankings (form Rivals):

2010: 4th
2011: 7th
2012: 10th
2013: 8th

and here's ours...

Miami class rankings (from Rivals):

2010: 16th
2011: 36th
2012: 9th
2013: 20th

if recruiting rankings were to hold true.... then we don't have the talent needed to win a BCS bowl game.. not to mention all the attrition we've had from kids that have been kicked off or haven't qualified or have left. This class really is MONSTROUS in terms of the skill we're adding to virtually every position. Really could be the class that solidifies our depth chart and brings us back to relevance and contention for the BCS year in and year out
