Team is not well coached

A counter of some sort?

How about...it's Year 1, after a horrendous year in which the prior head coach resigned after 12 games and the interim coach died shortly after, Jai Lucas had to replace the ENTIRE team with a collection of transfers, foreign players, and high-school flips.

How about...one of our rotational players was diagnosed with cancer mid-season and hasn't played since.

How about...we give a bit of credit to the other team when we are playing on the road against a team fighting to make the NCAA Tournament.

How about...you get the spelling correct on Noam Dovrat's name, which you've now screwed up twice in two different manners.

"Against better teams they will struggle." Wow, should you get credit for stating the obvious? Yes, 4 of our 6 losses were to teams that were ranked (when we were unranked). Our TWO losses to unranked teams were by 1 point to a 21-game-wins Cal team, and by 2 points to a surprisingly hot F$U team, which has won 9 of their last 12 games, with one of those losses being to Miami in a rematch.

We also beat a higher-ranked North Carolina team. We were tied (on the road) with a higher-ranked Virginia team and only lost on the free throws UVa made after a questionable foul call.

We are 24-6 and 13-4 in the AC****ingC, and we have clinched the 3-seed in the conference tournament and a double-bye.

We are ranked #22 in the AP poll and #23 in the coaches poll.

Do you really need any other "counters"?

I'd like to see fewer turnovers. The FT shooting and 3-point shooting were known when we signed these 15 guys. Let's not act like this is "bad coaching" and you should acknowledge that we had to fight to land the players we do have, particularly with the high school guys.

As much as I worried about Jai's lack of head coaching experience, he deserves to be named the ACC Coach of the Year. In his first season as a head coach. Ever.

THAT is "good coaching".

And you didn’t even mention that this team is elite at sharing the ball. Sure they make mistakes, but we average over 16 assists per game and the ball moves so well MOST of the time.

Let's be realistic here. Miami isn't beating Duke. I doubt Miami beats UVA if it comes to that. If you were to have Miami play Duke 5 times, Duke wins 4 of them and 3 of those wins are straight up beatdowns. This Miami team does a lot of things well, but Duke is a matchup nightmare for Miami, because 1)Duke has high end depth and 2)Duke has the ability to win any which way they want. Miami would need a lot of things to go right in order to steal a game against Duke and I'm not putting money on a team that would need to overperform in basically every metric to steal a game.

Keep the expectations in check, this team is already playing with house money, enjoy the ride.
We lost by 3 to UVA in Charlottesville . To say we couldnt beat them on a neutral site is asinine

It took a lot of things going well for Miami to stay in that game. That's the point. This team is limited in a lot of areas, and in order to beat higher end teams, we have to hope those things hold. That's a tough thing to build a case on, this team is tough, but the walls will eventually cave in, because the flaws will eventually prove to be too much to overcome.

If you look at analytics, Miami is a weird outlier, we do a lot of major things POORLY(FT and 3P shooting) and can't defend the three(266th nationally). It's tough to beat higher end teams when you can't hit FTs(Despite a team that is physical offensively which leads to more FT attempts), are iffy from deep and lacks the ability to defend the perimeter.

This team finds a way to stay in fights, but when you take a deeper look at how this team plays, it's amazing how this team manages to do it, because if you were to simulate some of these games, Miami shouldn't be in the fight late to begin with. If I were to give you a blind resume of this team statistically, without listing the team record, you'd say "This team is likely a middle of the pack team in a power conference, AT BEST. A bubble team".

They make too many fundamental
Mistakes.
Numerous unforced turnovers constantly
Have trouble inbounding the ball when pressed
Terrible free throw shooters

Also coaches failed to identify Drovat as best 3 point shooter, had been playing Malovic instead who is not consistent at all

Lucas gets credit for bringing in talent for sure.
Next year they need to bring in a shooting coach who knows what the heck he is doing
