Instead of insulting maybe you guys could offer a counter of some sort
You guys good with 16 turnovers against mediocre SMU team, most unforced
How about sub 50% FT shooting, good with that
Difficulty inbounding the ball when pressured over and over and over on every game

3 point shooting also horrible, until they figured out Drovak is the best at it

Against better teams they will struggle.

No one is happy with any of those things...but a first year head coach, with the record we have, winning 6 of 7 down the stretch...probably not the best thread to start

A counter of some sort?

How about...it's Year 1, after a horrendous year in which the prior head coach resigned after 12 games and the interim coach died shortly after, Jai Lucas had to replace the ENTIRE team with a collection of transfers, foreign players, and high-school flips.

How about...one of our rotational players was diagnosed with cancer mid-season and hasn't played since.

How about...we give a bit of credit to the other team when we are playing on the road against a team fighting to make the NCAA Tournament.

How about...you get the spelling correct on Noam Dovrat's name, which you've now screwed up twice in two different manners.

"Against better teams they will struggle." Wow, should you get credit for stating the obvious? Yes, 4 of our 6 losses were to teams that were ranked (when we were unranked). Our TWO losses to unranked teams were by 1 point to a 21-game-wins Cal team, and by 2 points to a surprisingly hot F$U team, which has won 9 of their last 12 games, with one of those losses being to Miami in a rematch.

We also beat a higher-ranked North Carolina team. We were tied (on the road) with a higher-ranked Virginia team and only lost on the free throws UVa made after a questionable foul call.

We are 24-6 and 13-4 in the AC****ingC, and we have clinched the 3-seed in the conference tournament and a double-bye.

We are ranked #22 in the AP poll and #23 in the coaches poll.

Do you really need any other "counters"?

I'd like to see fewer turnovers. The FT shooting and 3-point shooting were known when we signed these 15 guys. Let's not act like this is "bad coaching" and you should acknowledge that we had to fight to land the players we do have, particularly with the high school guys.

As much as I worried about Jai's lack of head coaching experience, he deserves to be named the ACC Coach of the Year. In his first season as a head coach. Ever.

THAT is "good coaching".

They make too many fundamental
Mistakes.
Numerous unforced turnovers constantly
Have trouble inbounding the ball when pressed
Terrible free throw shooters

Also coaches failed to identify Drovat as best 3 point shooter, had been playing Malovic instead who is not consistent at all

Lucas gets credit for bringing in talent for sure.
Next year they need to bring in a shooting coach who knows what the heck he is doing
24 wins by accident. Like slipping on a banana peel and falling into a pot of gold.

I think the counter is we won on the road fairly handily against a good team who was desperate when we were not. This diatribe describes a game lost that should have been won. But we actually won pretty easily. Touch grass, as the kids said a few years ago. And stop crashing out.. or something.

24 wins in his first season as a HC and the team is not "well coached" allegedly.
Imagine how good Miami will be when Jai Lucas has a well coached team. 😂
For the record, I love the Jai Lucas hire and I didn't want Richard Pitino nor Will Wade like some other people did. You know who you are and I will not name names.
I will never understand how a fan can be mad with 24 wins right now.
Are there things that need to improve? Absolutely.
The most important thing right now is that Miami is playing their best 🏀 of the season in March.
That is enough for Miami to win the ACC tournament next week after beating Louisville on Saturday.
I feel that good about the team right now.
This teams is built on defense, rebounding and easy fast break points. Shooting was always the area of opportunity for growth. The Shooting has gotten better and 11 made 3s against SMU is a huge positive.
I don't have any regrets about the Jai Lucas hire and I am still thankful for @Peter Ariz for breaking the story.
Some of you are just determined not to allow fans to enjoy a 24+ win season when we have suffered through 22 wins over the past two seasons.
Regardless, I am enjoying this season.
GO CANES

I think we need Duke to lose before we face them in the finals.

We can beat UVa. We almost did. We can beat UNC. We did. I don't think we can beat Duke.

And the last time we beat UNC was right after they beat Duke. Let's hope for a second lightning strike.

My question to you, how well do you know basketball and have you followed every game this season?

SMU thrives in transition trying to create havoc with their guards. Miami stayed true to their identity again, focusing on high low and paint looks. Miami limited the 2nd chance opportunities and made it difficult for SMU inside to score. Miami struggled with perimeter shooting to start the season but have become more balanced over the past 10 games or so.

Looking at the turnovers. Most came from the high low action trying to get the ball inside. SMU crashing down and playing passing lanes created some of these turnovers. Miami lacks true playmaker ability to create shots and relies on inside/out and good ball movement in the half court.

Miamis "mo" is not to beat you in the 3 point game but to get quality and timely 3's. Miami has played this style every game after the florida loss and has been a grind it out efficient team.

Miami having a brand new team, new coaching, expectations have far been exceeded. Is this a finished product, of course not. Building pieces for upcoming seasons are being established. Miami will definitely be a difficult matchup in the tournament with their style of play. Depending on the bracket they get, could even see a run into a sweet 16 appearance.

You brought up the negatives in this game but what about the positives. 20+ pts off turnovers, 50%+ effective shooting from 2/3 combined on the road. 20 assist on 38 baskets. This comes on a night that Reneau struggled offensively. Would i grade them an A for performance, no, but a B on the road.

Also easy money for the ones that took the +1.5 spread.
