Was just thinking about how last year the discipline of this team improved as opposed to years past. Probably from the end of Coker’s time here until the first year Richt was here the discipline was horrendous. It was nice not seeing guys diving on piles, qbs getting hit late, and other dumb penalties last year.

I know Miami got jobbed with some calls that went against us. Hopefully Miami keeps the penalties down this year.

I agree.

In 2016, we had some really stupid penalties mostly from leftover Foldenites. I still remember all those got **** false starts & OL penalties from that season, and can't forget Courtel Jenkins's dumbass diving on a pile late vs Pitt after we got a stop on 3rd down.

That's another thing that Richt has done well in terms of recruiting, he's really brought in a lot of high character kids that are leaders & great in the locker room. Too many selfish locker room cancers can kill a team, look no further than FSU & UF last year. Aside, from being poorly coached teams, those teams are littered with low character dudes who don't give a fck about nobody but themselves.

Team discipline on & off the field is a very important factor in building a championship program, I think we have that in spades.
Don't forget all the delay of game penalties coming out of a timeout.

There was a stretch where we had guys diving on piles way after the play. Courtel, Norton, and Moten all got called I believe and then Willis did it a couple times but never got called. Then Richt put his foot down and suspended Courtel and that sent a message to the team.

Yup smh. I think I remember that happening vs Notre Dame in 2016, I might be wrong but I know we had like 10 penalties that game.

We've really improved in that area though.

Do you think that some of the "misses" on the recruiting trail could very well be due to that player not being a fit for Richt's type of player?

Yea, it might have improved, but clearly that didn't help the ACC refs call a ****** holding penalty last year. Really hope Miami Admin addressed that in the spring meetings, because that was **** was blatantly bias.

Also in building good men who are learning the right way to do things on and off the field.

We don't have many off field issues anymore either. All our guys from the past two classes qualified academically. They aren't getting arrested (like some of our highly esteemed rivals), posting stupid pictures or comment on social media (Good riddance Dionte), or causing issues within the locker room. In fact, we are the top college football team in charitable giving. The discipline turnaround is amazing. So many of the kids will go on to great things in both football and life. It's refreshing when you can go a whole summer and only lose third/forth string players who transfer for more playing time.
