10th in nation in sacks. This despite playing 1 or 2 games less then the teams above them.

2nd in nation in Tackles for Loss per game.

17th in scoring defense.

63 in total defense. A couple bad ***** ups by the secondary against Toledo hurts here.

Overall trending up. Defensive line is proving their dominance. Secondary came together last game. If the trend stays up all these rankings go down after Saturday, save the TFL stat.

Duke was 5-19. They converted 1 in the 2nd half
 
People bagged on Diaz with some valid points, but you must trust the process and not show to much to early. But I believe the Defense with the storm distraction behind them and in better condition equals better improvement in the D stats

Mack Brown said it Best, “Duke is going to be Duke and play their type of football”. That helps our defense as far as predictability. We’ve struggled with sporadic offenses and we dominated a team with a true identity. I think that will continue to be the case for the rest of the season.

In all 3 games we have had guys in position to make the tackle numerous times on 3rd down and they went for the big hit instead of the sure tackle. Those have cost us 5+ times a game which hurt. We need to make the tackles when they are there and our defense will get off the field... That's the main thing I see.

The 2 fewer games don't make a difference when you're looking at per game averages. We are 10th in sacks per game. We are 38th in overall sacks.

I know that. But the implication of OP's post is that we are 10th in overall sacks in spite of playing fewer games. Which would mean we would be practically top in the country in sacks per game.
