Crazy to say, but Cantwell could have something to say at Tackle if he becomes what we think he can be.
Lucas at corner as well. And there are more.
But until anyone has actually done it, full time, we shouldn’t be giving anyone the nod sans Mali IMO.

I get the “we are as talented as we’ve been in a long time” but at the same time we aren’t sure we are even more talented than last years team.

Basically the same or a little better at QB and WR the same at RB, and TE.
But have serious questions at LB, S, DE, DT and surely at OL replacing 4 starters. Safety and Corner play should be good but there’s something to be proven at FS and Nickel…

Is Fletcher going to start over McGahee Portis or Gore?
is Morten going to start over Vince Wilfork?
Frederique is not even better than Lucas and you have him starting over Rumph


Once again, the backups on a 2001 team would be entrenched starters on today’s roster
 
Mensah more talented for sure, but Dorsey might be the better QB. Dude never made the wrong read and always got the ball where it needed to be, when it needed to be there. That’s valuable. But, the asterisk with Dorsey is that a lot of QBs would’ve look good with that roster.

The 2001 team backups would be entrenched starters for today’s roster

I'm just gonna assume a lot these posters in this thread are new fans, they're literally comparing players who haven't played a down of UM football to members of the greatest College football team ever.

Example: Beck is a better athlete at QB vs Ken but Dorsey wouldn't have thrown those final drive ints vs Louisville, SMU and Indiana

I think from a pure talent standpoint it’s not a reach to say Mensah could be more talented than Dorsey. Dorsey is obviously the gold standard for QBs here. I’d be legitimately shocked if a QB ever even approaches his success over a career here.

I think a better exercise is comparing Dorsey to Cam. Cam is the only QB who I’d even entertain an argument for vs Dorsey. I’d probably still lean Dorsey. But Cam and what he did in his one year here was the stuff of legends. Not his fault his defense was a bunch of blinds guys trying to hump a football.
