That’s the same thing Kenny Kelly said once upon a time and the next thing you knew , dude was playing baseball.

Until Mensah does something here, and I mean anything, KD is the easy pick.

Absolutely, but KD has the wins and a ring.

I’ll take that scenario all day long, every day.

I pray Mensah leads us to #6 , but until then, KD is head and shoulders better than Mensah at the same point in their careers.

And it’s not even close!

The comparison is based on the alignments that 01 ran vs 2026.
Would there be any difference if we used 10 personnel for offense and 4-2-5 for defense?

You have to also take into account the game was a little different back then
 
Just doesn't seem fair to start comparing arguably the best collection of talent in college football history against a squad that hasn't won its conference yet.
 
What’s the point of this exercise?

We are comparing a team that hasn’t played a down together to a team who is commonly presented as the greatest CFB team of all-time.

I’m not knocking our current guys, as they DO have the potential to win it all, but I don’t understand the point of this, which is often my take on the hypotheticals Ferman concocts and his minions drool over.
 
You really should’ve done this with last years team so you could compare finished products.
Fitz was awesome in spot duty, and had some amazing plays, but James Lewis was frogging good! So as excited as I am to see him develop, there’s a long way to go.
There could be some impressive seasons put out that we are not anticipating that may change an opinion.
Crazy to say, but Cantwell could have something to say at Tackle if he becomes what we think he can be.
Lucas at corner as well. And there are more.
But until anyone has actually done it, full time, we shouldn’t be giving anyone the nod sans Mali IMO.

I get the “we are as talented as we’ve been in a long time” but at the same time we aren’t sure we are even more talented than last years team.

Basically the same or a little better at QB and WR the same at RB, and TE.
But have serious questions at LB, S, DE, DT and surely at OL replacing 4 starters. Safety and Corner play should be good but there’s something to be proven at FS and Nickel…
