I have asked that question 1,000 times and the only conclusion I can come to is, they don't trust hime because he is old and wasn't a 4 - 5 star recruit coming out of high school.

Marion and Daniels were solid and reliable, but they were not threats. None of our opponents had to factor in that they make take a simple play to the house or be such a physical mismatch that they don't have a single player that can match up with them one on one.
We all hoped that Marion's speed would be an X factor but it never really came together, track speed vs football speed kinda deal. Returning kicks just is not the same as running routes.
This season we have Barkate as a better version of Daniels, Mali a yr older, and we are hoping one of 5 guys (Moore, Upshaw, Vaughan, Jacobs, Wingo) become another legit number one talent to give us three dudes that require bracket coverage.
Last season Mali was able to be neutralized by elite secondaries because everyone else could be covered 1v1. I don't think it's happening this season, someone will always be eating. DC's in the league are probably already ****ting a brick and they haven't even seen it all together on the field yet.

Had this convo with my pops the other day. The only thing keeping me from fully trusting Mario's evals (as it pertains to the O line talent for this season) is because he gave the greenlight to roll out that secondary in 2024. That is the only thing.
If we hadnt been so bad on that unit and literally missed an ACC title and CFP berth because of it I would not doubt for one second that the O line this season will be dominant even if it is a reloaded and unproven group. But alas the DBs from 2024 haunt my psyche so instead of belligerently bullish I am confidently optimistic

These lists are incredibly subjective and often biased. With that in mind, not having Wilson at DE seems like a miss. Was Desir’s frosh year performance better than Wilson’s body of work over the last two years?

Cooper was too good for me to say that with certainty, but I won't be worried about the OL until Mario/Alex are.

So you're telling me that your reason for not trusting a career offensive lineman and offensive line coach, someone who has consistently produced dominant offensive line units for the past 15 seasons, is that the 2024 secondary was terrible under his watch as the head coach? Even though Mario has never played or coached a defensive position, let alone coached the secondary?
How does the performance of a position group he has no direct involvement with outweigh a decade and a half of proven success coaching offensive lines?
On the Bucs team website he is listed as a DB, while their pure corners are listed as CB. An Athletic headline says, "Buccaneers draft Miami safety Keionte Scott with 116th pick in 2026 NFL Draft."
I'm not arguing the semantics part, I think you're right about that, but I don't know if he was drafted as a CB to be a CB. There are quotes from the Bucs GM and Coach that talk about Scott potentially playing safety.

McCoy is a starter on this team because he has been a starter for 2 yrs now. Just accept it. Whether you think he was/is/will be good or not is up for debate sure. Not whether he will start.
