Does Kyle Wright know my country's team has been practicing at Univ of Miami Basketball facilities this week?.

Only saying this because both of my relatives are practicing currently.

Wish we got in the game for Donnie Freeman who transferred to st johns...but The Bahamas will have some more prospects and maybe LJ puts us in the game with them

Pretty wild considering how things work nowadays. Just looked up the story.

Mychal turned 19 in January of his senior year of HS; idk about the other guys. This means Mychal was a grade older than expected/allowed; nowadays he’d be more than fine. Didn’t know Klay’s uncle hooped too. Appreciate the share. 4 of them were over the age limit.

Some smoke Klay will end up with the Miami Heat this offseason.

I had to go back and look myself and Miami Jackson started 4 Bahamians and one Cuban guy named Gonzales. I think more than one guy was over the age limit but I could be wrong.

Yeah 4 players were over the age limit. I just meant i did not know how over and older the other guys were.

Cecil rose nephew is a coach on our basketball team currently. That's the LJ im speaking of in reference to recruiting Bahamians.

Cecil's brother LJs dad was co captain of Phi Slama Jama at Houston...thats the Houston connection with Jai Lucas.

Klays brother Mychal is a coach on the national team.

Klay still likely is because he is trying to play for us. We would have an ungodly amount of three point shooters if he is allowed to transfer over which he should. ( Eric Gordon, Buddy Hield, Klay Thompson) are all top 30 Three pt shooters in history.

Yeah it’s weird how FIFA does it compared to FIBA. FIFA basically gives you optionality at the youth level whereas FIBA makes it hard for you if you don’t declare for a country you’re not born in or living in by when you turn 16. But both of them restrict you altogether. Kinda nonsensical in this day & age.

Lowkey colonizing mindset from them…. restricts Bahamas and Jamaica and many others from having the professionals appropriate rep them. Cuz at the same time, the Nike Hoop Summit will let AJ Dyanbasta and Taj Ariza play on the team world because they need to pack the game with as many five stars as possible, so team usa has strong competition, for scouts lol 🤦🏽‍♂️

I wanted to see Klay suit up on the qualifying team w/ Gordon, buddy, ayton and your fam because they were so **** close to qualifying for the Olympics. Amazed me people had so many questions about VJ from his time at Baylor when he was the best player on the Bahamas team by the end of tournament then the best player on the floor @ 18 lmao. Will be interesting to see how that team develops around him as everyone ages up.

Rooting for yall and hoping klay gets that clearance but it’s tuff. FIBA doing all kinds of ****ery to block team Jamaica from loading up.

Kyrie said he is about to play for Australia unless team usa gives him some assurance he will be on the team or at least able to tryout for the team since there were no tryouts in ‘24. I hope he does. Makes the competition more fun and real. But like klay, because he played for team usa he has a bunch of red tape that might prevent him; even tho kyrie was born in Australia 🤦🏽‍♂️
 
Cool to see TMax supporting VJ. Looks like they have a great chance to make WC

thats what i think the same as you.

I know Miami or Lakers are the two teams i know klay would always have interest in....

Klay would kinda be in the Mike Miller role if he came to the Heat....this is if we got Lebron back as well. Quiet as kept he still knocked down a bunch of 3s last szn witht he heat team they would be open looks again as well when he is in.

Yeah he can still catch and shoot and him being out there opens up space for everyone else. But that’s kinda it. He was perfect with Luka but I don’t see how you could have Luka, Reeves, and Klay on the same team - that’s too much liability defensively- but wdik Luka always proves me wrong. Miami is definitely his best fit. I just don’t see the how though. If Dallas has to eat his contract I would think they should just eat it in one season. And I also dont understand why. Klay’s not some toxic dude and not even that over paid compared to a lot of contract out there.

They have 16 guaranteed players on their roster currently. Someone has to go before the season starts.

Klay is on an expiring deal. They’d save a couple million as Klay would take a buyout of his salary, 17M, minus whatever he was going to make on his new team, 3M is about the vet minimum but he could make more depending on if the how the Heat spread out their money.

A buyout is different than a waive and stretch so they wouldn’t be putting any future money on their books.

If this is the case then I guess makes sense for both parties. I’d assume the buyout would be in $12-14 million park. If Klay signs for at least $3M with Miami then it’s not like he’s losing any money and he’s going to be a lot happier. He was probably just going through the motions in Dallas once Luka left (and Kyrie got hurt)

Yeah he signed up under completely different pretenses; although, while upset about the trade, AD, Kyrie and Klay are very cool with each other as they all played together on that 2014 FIBA WC team.

But that organization couldn’t get rid of the toxicity surrounding the trade until they let go of AD, Jason Kidd, and Nico Harrison.

I think Klay ends his career with GSW but i favor the Heat for his next team because we have a bigger role to offer him, and i don’t think he is ready to call it quits just yet.
