Team A vs Team B

If you think Miami outplayed Notre Dame vs Stanford, then you don't know ball. ND was up 35-3 at the half. Miami was LOSING until they tied the game 7-7 with 1:15 in the half. Winning by a few more points in the end is only for the box score watchers.
Miami put up 35 points in two quarters.

Also the game is played on BOTH sodes of the ball and they gave up just 7 points.

Now do Pitt...

Good thing a game is 4 qtrs. Who gives a ****. ND showed they'll score 70 if they can. They were running hurry up (with backups). NC State got a late **** TD vs our backups. Our differential vs pitt was higher even before the trash TD at the end. You can do this **** all day. Doesn't ******* matter.

We want to then argue we were starting backups at DL, S, CB, WR?

It's a pointless argument. The games at worse resulted in similar win differentials. Call it a push at worse and move on to the other three metrics they use.

Notre Dame was trying to convert up 37-15 against Pitt on 4th and 2 with 2 minutes left and running trick punt plays against Stanford lol.

Why is it more impressive to outscore a team 35-3 in the first half, than to outscore them 35-0 in the second? What did Notre Dame specifically do better in the first half than Miami did in the second half? Make this case.

Wait till he finds out about Notre Dame up 12-10 at half against 2-10 Boston College.

Some real "ball knowers" in this chat huh?

ND was running fake punts against Stanford, they threw everything at them to beat them as thoroughly as possible. They did all of that and still gave up 312 yards to 144 we did. You can say box scores are misleading, but look at these tell me they are? ND also inflated their offensive output considerably by using that dumb fake punt. ND went in there trying to do whatever possible to flat out destroy Stanford and they didn’t. We played a **** *** first half and still rolled Stanford easily.

Most advanced metrics / power ratings try to account for game flow and mitigate the impacts of garbage time statistics. SP+ for example basically considers the game over at with a 28pt lead in the 3rd quarter or 22pt lead in the 4th quarter. ND had effectively won their game vs Stanford at the half, Miami didn't have the outcome secured until mid 4th quarter.

ND has similar SoS as Miami and doesn't have a win as good as Miami but the power ratings like ND more than the humans. (FPI #3, Massey #5, Sagarin #2, SP+ #6).

It might not be more impressive to you, but it has value in ways that do impact selection.
