TE JET SWEEP!

I think the problem is u pack it in tight the box gets to be like 9-10 defenders and we don't have a punishing OL so our runs don't work. We should be spreading it out to lessen the box defenders and then there's less opportunities for blown assignments
I spent too much time yelling "don't run into that!" when they packed the box. I don't think Enos could hear me.

Almost worked, what a great call!
Reminds me of the 2003 game I was at in the Orange Bowl, the game was against West Virginia and Chudzinski called the same play to Kellen Winslow inside the goal line. It didn’t work back then and it didn’t work tonight 🤦🏽‍♂️

Good play but bad timing & design.

Bad timing because UVA was not getting us run to th edge. It would be more effective against a less athletic & long defense.

Bad design because Mallory is a **** lead blocker. Someone else needs to be in that spot. Irvin Jr?

Agreed. You have to know your personnel. There's no way Mallory is holding his block that long.

Also he has no feel or context of the game. Jordan ran down the field a couple of plays prior and you can tell he was still kinda winded.

That was really the only play call I didn’t like tonight. I loved the QB designed run. I loved the speed option. But Enos tightens yo in the red zone. The best thing that could’ve happened was Kosi realizing he could tuck it and run it in. That should be our 1st and 3rd down call every time down there. F*ck trying to muscle it in with a GL formation. We can’t do that, and stats show we shouldn’t even try.

In the RZ and goal line, you should spread out and run, or bunch up and pass. It’s counterintuitive to bunch everyone up and try to cram salt up where the sun don’t shine.

Sorry for bringing them up but that's what Dan Mullen does so we'll and it's something I really like. Spaces it out has like a 5 man box and then he runs it and the offensive line looks a lot better like that too

That's a play that might work if your 2nd TE can block. Mallory has sucked all year at blocking, and got owned on that play, predictably.
It was creative and Jordan is like a rb at tight end, but any play asking for mallory to set the edge as a blocker is advised I’ll advised.

That dudeshould NEVER EVER EVER BE in to block. I mean bring in anopther lineman...Mike IRVIN...anyone BUT HIM
This staff has a bad habit of making guys do what they're not good at and limiting what they're good at. They seemed to figure out out with Garvin tonight. Hopefully Enos will figure it out too. Mallory should be making LBs chase him in the secondary, not trying to block DEs.

Because I remember way too much, we tried the same thing on a 3rd and 1 vs UNC in 2004 with Kevin Everett and it didn't work then either.

is that the same Kevin (wide open in the end zone but .... ) Everett?
Funny what things we all remember.

On a fake FG that would have tied the game at VT in 2003. If I could remember SO's birthdays like I remember random plays from past Canes games I'd be in a lot less trouble all the time.

1000%. He’s just not a good blocker, and it completely negates anything we try to do. I thought the 3rd down wildcat where we shifted to it was super creative, but Mallory’s footwork was terrible and Dallas couldn’t find a seam.

Enos called a good game last night. Players didn’t execute at least 30% or it would’ve been even better. The LT is below par at this time. The C and RT almost as bad. Perry couldn’t hit the deep throw which was open all night and WR’s had the dropsie sickness again. Unreal these guys. Despite it all, hey fought hard and never gave up. Good job!

Now continue to get better.
