CB dont worry me. Rumph has showed me he can develop kids. NO ONE thought MJ was going to be this good.we are young at the position but by next year we should be very good.

Why does this keeps being stated. I praised MJ the whole time he was here considering he earned all special teams reps and stole a few play time reps from his freshman year. Kid came in at 6'2 190 and running sub 4.6 40...umm you better work with those type numbers.

Always watch the freshmans that perform on all special teams..(Homer, Michael Jackson, Sean Taylor, Walton, Kellen Winslow)

Some of our fans just dont really know football like that...especially the ones that had MJ as some bum or transfer candidate.

It was because he was from Alabama and didn't go to Bama..Maybe didn't have an offer from Bama...so people thought we were getting leftovers.

I'll take it.

well golden's story was the kid had family in south florida that he wanted to be by so he committed and none of the sec schools bothered because they knew he was set on moving to south florida.

Yea Bama messed up. He performed as one of the better dbs in the bama all star game with their better players.
I love heading to sec country and grabbing some players back..

Lol yeah sure. MJ didn’t show anything that would suggest he would be anywhere near the convo of a potential 1st round pick (or simply making the NFL) until he came out of nowhere during the summer right before the start of last season.

He definitely wasn’t a bum but he barely got on the field as a cb his first two seasons. Most players that are viewed 1st round talents or even above average contributors (on their cfb team) are getting playing time immediately (even if it’s in spurts), and the cornerback position wasn’t full of all world talent at the time he got here.

To make a comparison, freshman year MJ wasn’t close to the same level as Blades, Frierson, and Ivey. How great of a job that Rumph did in developing him isn’t being overly stated like you’re trying to imply.

Ummm..yea sure. He played behind 3 nfl players. Again he occasionally got reps early on..just because you didnt notice is different. I dont think Jackson was an early entry but physically and athletically he was on par with the 3 named. Thats what im saying he wasnt some bum that Rumph resurrected...he was a kid that came in with alot of talent and developed like most players do after their sophomore years. We're spoiled with having guys showout as true freshmans. Where they usually show out is on specials...and Mike Jackson was on ALL specials since he step foot here.

Agreed.

Sheven Marshall, an LB during the Butch years also had a neck injury that ended his career early - maybe in his sophomore year.

He looked like he was going to be a good one for us - much like Malek.

Man I wish Young could still play. I liked him better than MJ, hope his health holds and he gets his degree

Not as high on him as the other guys....but the staff has been on him from the jump so they must see something they like immensey.Seems to been on their board regardless of whom around.

I feel like you...Ive watched quite a few full games of him....I trust Rumph though.

Tracks the ball well. Covers ground quickly. Little guy that plays big. Not afraid to get dirty. I like this kid.
