The problem is we know who we are and the identity of this team/offense.. We spent half the season pounding our fist even if we were getting stuffed in dallas, no matter what Bauman was on the field.. This dude had to be the worst athlete we had on field in last decade and he still played because thats who we are, no matter results.. We probably ran more 2 TE snaps than 4 WRs and will do same upcoming. It is what it is..

Then we should bring in some beasts at TE that can block and catch at a high level. Hopefully Mueller will turn out to be that.

Bro we have been in every recruit AND/OR portal thread talking about the neglect of the position.. The new trend of modern offensive football is having multiple quality TE is a WEAPON.. We neglect the position but demand they stay on field no matter how bad the player is, its crazy..

And you can see the sentiment of the fans is like yea just get cheapo bauman types and that already cost us a championship which I called out prior, you cant do that at that high a level.. the margins are soo slim that you cant neglect the position.. We NEEDED a quality transfer bad but we should be hitting high school talent HARD..

Got to have a guy that is good at both skills - receiving and blocking. If they’re only good at one, they don’t help you out at all all. You might as well have another OL (who is a better blocker) or another WR (who will be better receiver) in there.
 
Not every team features the tight end…Nor do they have to.

And we definitely don't ignore the tight end. We are recruiting the position hard as usual, and it seems like we think we hit a home run this past season with the Briggs/Mueller combo (probably two of the what? top 10, or at worst 15 in the nation?).

I don't think there's any reason to panic here, just don't expect us to be one of the highest TE utilization teams in the nation, we won't be.

Two very interesting prospects. Larsen was a wrestler too. Lists a 4.6 40 on his bio; no clue how legit that is however he mos def can scoot a bit even if he is closer to high 4.7s/low 4.8s. Picking up more offers since he transferred down. Lists himself as QB/ATH but idk if the offers are for ATH or QB; def puts a lot of work into QB. Good jumper.

Surprised Randle isn’t comitted to a p4 school rn. Seems like he got offers as an underclassmen then the coaching carousel and being at a school I’ve never heard of hurt him. Randle had some sneaky elusiveness and tackle shedding I wasn’t expecting. No idea what the competition is tho. Plays offense and defense; has many highlights as a wildcat QB as well.

Mueller is a beast. Gilbert doesn’t get talked about enough. Briggs and DD are those lean athletes that will get stronger. Worst case portal a tight end or just go with what we have. Not saying you but the board seems locked in on a big body tight end and we have two young ones on the roster now.

Now looks like a move to Minnesota...is that where fitzgerald is from?.

Either way...kid looks to be 6'4 220 at least...and if a cheaper NIl as a second te and with that pedigree should be a take.

I still believe it should be a minimal NIl for a second te in the class so if they want to much im good with punting and portaling in a vet after the szn...or go after guys like this kid and the Bishop Gorman TE.

Ya what's weird is Gabby going out of his way to say we offered him as a WR?

I mean… He looks like a TE all the way unless he was overweight in those clips?
