TCU-Ohio State

I like how Patterson always runs a wide open high octane offense even though he's a defensive guy. Seems like most head coaches who come from the defensive side of the ball are usually just content with 3 yards and a cloud of dust offenses.

Definitely seems like the guy that would have stuck around for a while too. Really wonder what the landscape of college football would look like if we made that hire

I don’t know if he would have taken the job. At the time he wasn’t as stablished in TCU as he is know so it was possible. It just drives me crazy that we didn’t even interview that we canceled his interview. That in the laziest move in coaching searches history we just stopped to process and hired Shannon.

TCU gives up a pick 6 on shuffle pass and then a great trick play ruined with a bad lateral. And now a bad snap and dropped punt lol They are killing themselves right now.

His defenses have slipped since joining the Big 12, but that may be due to the style of play and skill level on offense in the Big 12.

What I really like about his coaching is a down year is followed by two or three great ones. TCU really struggled his first two seasons in the Big 12 (6-13 conference record) but rebounded with a 15-3 conference record the following two seasons. The next year was an off year, followed by a 7-2 conference record (losing to Oklahoma and upset by Iowa State).

He would have been a great hire to replace Coker, cancelled interviews or not, interested or not.
