Tavares Harrington was offered May 2025 and visited with his teammate Roman Igwebuike for the Notre Dame game. He's also scheduled for the Gators game.
Blue-chip Chicago safety Tavares Harrington was down for the game too. He’s a priority target for Notre Dame and Alabama but Miami made a big impression on him.
“The visit went great! The culture stood out to me how many alums came back and talked with the recruits and the students there,” Harrington said.
Harrington also noticed how many players from his area were on campus this weekend. And also how Miami is trying to land more of them.
“I’ve noticed it and I love it because schools usually doubt Midwest kids,” Harrington said.
“I feel especially that way about Chicago kids. We never really have big recruiting classes but some people that have went to these schools have balled out. And they are starting to come back for more kids from the area.”
"I love it here," said Harrington, a long 6-foot-3 defensive back. "They treat me like family. They've got great coaches. Now that I've been around and talked to them more one on one, it was a great time. I can't wait to have my dad back down there, have my family down for another game or a spring practice."
Harrington added, "They run same somewhat the same thing as my high school scheme-wise, so they can see me playing here for sure."
For all three, it was a chance to really explore Miami as an option, which they all had thought the Hurricanes would be a top school but being in Coral Gables cemented it.
"I always knew Miami was great place and I had seen pictures of it," Harrington said, "but now that I've actually experienced it, I love it here."
