Tate Martell is the ideal QB2

And Tate wasn't " NEW " ? The new coach didn't even want Tate around to back up Fields? Stop bull****ing yourself.
No. Ryan Day did not recruit Tate nor was he on the staff. Coaches want to win with their players and especially their own QB. That's simply a fact. That's why u see so much turnover on an NFL roster when a new coach is hired.

"The new coach didn't even want Tate around to back up Fields?" can't be a serious question.

Did Jimbo recruit Kellen Mond? Furthermore..you can't compare the level of turnover in the NFL to college-they're not even remotely comparable. OSU not even allowing Tate to COMPETE for the job is an indictment against Tate anyway that you slice it particularly when you take into account the FACT that Ryan Day was Tate's offensive coordinator for the entirety of his career @ OSU.

Tate leaving OSU had everything to do with the direction in which new head coach Ryan Day was taking the offense. It had little to do with Tate's talent. Last year, Ryan Day's first as playcaller at OSU, they passed on 49.6% of their offensive snaps. The prior three seasons OSU passed on an average of 39% of their offensive snaps. Ryan Day's offense is not well suited to Tate's strengths as a dual threat QB. He wants a pocket passer. Justin Fields made a mistake going to OSU thinking that they would be running Urban's offense. Day is not an Urban disciple. He spent one year at UF as a GA. Then he worked for Addasio for nine years. Ask yourself this. Does Addasio's offense look anything like Urban's offense? I'll help you with that. Anthony Brown has run the ball 96 times in two years as Addasio's starting QB. Tate ran the ball 146 times his senior year at Gorman. In conclusion, you don't know what the f*ck you're talking about. Sit down.

Day has an NFL background and Tim Beck was Tate's recruiter and OC originally. Aside from Urban himself getting involved after seeing his film.

is enos recruiting more pocket passers for next year and year after to fit his offense or does he prefer the dual threat type? i would think the style of QB enos prefers will have a lot to do w who he thinks is the man for the job this year (All things being equal of course and if all end up even at the end of fall camp)

The FACT is Day didn't recruit Tate. The Fact is 99% of every CFB program would have would have promised a guy like Justin Fields the starting spot, including Miami.

All of that is irrelevant. Tate coming here and taking the QB spot is the only thing that matters.

BTW, they are comparable when the portal is basically FREE AGENCY and one way to turnover your roster in the NFL is through ... FREE AGENCY.

glad we have tate to compete, but he has to show more than he has to take that spot. idc bout his hs tape or his butgers blow out vid. he better beat out perry and williams to land the job otherwise were no better than we were last year by not allowing all the QBs to truly compete.

Passing the ball is a talent.

Apologies if I was wrong. I thought he was listed as a Junior somewhere.

I saw it on 24/7.

But regardless, he is the ideal backup QB. What he’s lacking in talent he makes up for in other areas.

He’ll start camp as QB2 and we’ll see after that. I’m glad he’s a Hurricane.
