Targeting rule in college football is broken
Nobody knows what targeting is or how it's enforced. It's one of the most frustrating penalties to see officiated in all of sports.
Make it a tiered system like Flagrants in basketball. Have the ability to suspend if it’s horrific, but incidentals shouldn’t be auto suspensions.Stop with the automatic suspensions. If there no intent or malice, then let them play next game. It’s football not chess.
Agree, but I think in the playoffs because each game stands alone in essence as like the first game of the season so to speak. I don’t think penalties or suspension carryover from game to game. Correct me if I’m wrong on that but I don’t think that Lucas has to sit out the first half of the next game am I right?Stop with the automatic suspensions. I haven’t read that anywhere. It seems it does carryover in playoffs.Agree, but I think in the playoffs because each game stands alone in essence as like the first game of the season so to speak. Pretty sure it carries over in the playoffs and believe it was stated last night.Agree, but I think in the playoffs because each game stands alone in essence as like the first game of the season so to speak. Yeah, it even carries over into the next season. Wasn’t there a player that had to sit the first half of game 1 this year (forget what team)because he got thrown out for targeting the year prior either in a bowl or playoffs. And to make it even crazier he had transferred prior to the season.I haven’t read that anywhere. It seems it does carryover in playoffs.
I read online that the conference can appeal the suspension for the first half of the next game. Hopefully the ACC does that. Of course I’m not holding my breath when it comes to the ACC for anything though.Pretty sure it carries over in the playoffs and believe it was stated last night.
Instead, ACC will advocate for sitting out the entire championship game.I read online that the conference can appeal the suspension for the first half of the next game. Hopefully the ACC does that. Of course I’m not holding my breath when it comes to the ACC for anything though.
