TAMU still talking trash

I’m old enough to remember the Cotton Bowl against Texas where their DBs were bragging about playing man coverage against us. Randal Hill just said that meant he was looking forward to a great game. One run through the tunnel and a 46-3 bowl win later…I’d say I like what happens when Texas guys trash talk us! Lol

Watched that game angry as heck that we lost due to a fake fumble at ND...

We will see this Saturday. They have the advantage of having played an SEC schedule, whereas we look good on paper but are largely unproven (apart from FSU) against above-average run offenses. ND is good but obviously wasn't yet settled in their offense in game 1.
How many starters on defense were starting their first game in a UM Jersey?
Settled cuts two ways.

SEC schedule? 🤣🤣🤣

LOL, can you imagine running your mouth at a defense led by Jerome, Rod Carter, and Blades? Those guys took to words like this like Superman to a yellow sun.

But to the above poster, I agree. It's a goad tactic by Elko to get cheap yards via personal fouls. I have to believe the coaches know this and are reminding the players not to fall for their ilk.
I could see that working against past defenses as far as baiting them into personal fouls and the like. However this defense is too disciplined and poised to let that get in their heads. In my honest opinion, Elko made the wrong play here. If this was really Elko's idea then he has overplayed his hand. Our guys will be ready. This game can't come soon enough! LFG!!!!

Let them keep talking. I love that our guys are silent or are "showing respect" to our opponent. Let it marinate internally. Then come Saturday Cotton Bowl '91 their asses.
On my Mount Rushmore of favorite Canes games. Utter domination from start to finish of a supposedly-tough Texas. "Neutral" field but hostile crowd quieted in the first quarter and never had a **** thing to cheer about the whole game.

The All-American DB who called himself the Sheriff and then Randal "Thrill" Hill with the finger guns emerging from the tunnel...

Ahmon Richards kind of touched on this during a podcast with D$. He said when you deal with these playoff caliber teams, they are not trying to be disrespectful when they make comments like this. They just have so much confidence that they don’t feel threatened by anyone. Our players probably feel the same way.
I 100% disagree. It’s a lack of respect. That’s like saying “We don’t have to worry about Micheal Jordan, we have faced scorers before. They said that about D Money and we held him to 3 pts.” That’s a direct shot.

There is a difference between being confident and running your mouth. This is what confidence sounds like.

“Miami has a good front, our guys are locked in and ready for the challenge. We feel confident heading into Saturday. Their front looked great on film and we will need to be at our best”

Dude shrugged us off like we were some suckas.

This is my thoughts with it. You can be confident and admit the opponent is good. That’s not weak or soft. The doubling and tripling down since the tackle said what he said about Bain, tells me it’s a top down type of talk.

I’m glad this is happening. I don’t think we’d need more ammunition to be ready to play but this definitely helps.
