TAMU Game Week Discussion Thread 2.0

Well, good luck to y'all. I probably won't be posting anymore as I'll be traveling tomorrow, but it was great hearing about your team. Miami should have won the game last year but for shooting themselves in the foot a few times. It looks like BOTH teams are a LOT DIFFERENT this year, so we might see better execution by both teams and a very good game. Later.

Nice side car.

Offense will come down to can our receivers get open against tight man coverage. Wouldn’t be surprised to see more Harrell and Ray Ray get more burn this game due to their speed. On defense hopefully Guildry breaks the cycle of making average to below average quarterbacks look like Heisman contenders.

You guys think we are giving Petrino just a little too much credit around here?

I mean sure at one point he was an up and coming offensive specialist but….exactly what are we do concerned about with him?

Genuinely curious as I’ve not really followed along his exploits of FCS powerhouse Missouri State
If all Petrino does is replace Jimbo's giant playbook overcomplicated offense with something average that lets the talent shine then that could be enough, they allegedly have 4 WRs better than our WR1.

Similar to how Dawson doesn't have to be a mega mind to be a huge upgrade over last year. A completely average scheme that lets TVD audible, has simple reads and doesn't confuse the WRs could yield a big improvement.

Control the game clock and keep Petrino and his goons off the field....LETS GO CANES! :neonu::11263272045-489f4f7972-o::emot-canes:

Safe travels. Hope you don’t enjoy the game LOL

GO Canes!

Nope, he handled them pretty well tho. Just basing it off him knowing where the pressure is coming from and still being efficient. Are pressures are different tho so we’ll see how he handles em

Miami was going mostly with A-Gap pressures against Miami of Ohio.

UNM did it a few times last week with mixed results, so let’s see how Miami decides to dial it up against A2M.

If it was me, I’d focus on pressing the a gaps and getting pressure in a young qbs face

I’ve said it a few times but this has me bullish on this game and the season more than anything else. It’s really hard to get the **** kicked out of you if you have an elite offensive line. I really think that’s what we have. It may not be Top 5 nationally, but I think it’s an advantage against every team we play. Rivers at LT against truly elite edge rushers does scare me, as we’ve talked about all off-season. But I think overall this group vs the A&M DL favors Miami, which is wild when you think how bad our group was last year and how many 5-stars they have.

That’s the story of the game to me. Our OL held up very well against them last year, and we should have won the game easily. It’s MUCH better this year.

We have to play well overall, of course. But I’d be really surprised if they just whip our *** up front. And if we hold our own on the LOS, we can have success as an offense.

Go drop 30 on them and see what their young QB can do on the road against a confusing and multiple defense.
