The BUC seats like 8000 and doesn't generate legitimate parking revenue. While I'm on board with stopping all donations to the athletic department as a whole, boycotting basketball would be of negligible financial impact and just generally ****ish to a guy running a program that deserves support.

Yeah they don't generate even close the revenue the football program does.

He stop donating this year and now were completely pulling out of this football program... We're actually going to buy basketball season tix next year becuz that's a program that's got it's act together in my eyes we are becoming a bball school.... First some background information: Anyone who is in the hurricane club has an ID#. The school tracks my donations and purchases over time through my ID#. I also donate money to football and basketball. In addition half of my immediate family went to UM. Just like an alumni or member they track spending and donations.

Next, what does that mean? The school (via my emails and letter) is going to see why I am supporting one sport over another. In one sport we brought in an elite coach and we're winning. In the other sport (football) we swallow gallons of sperm on a weekly basis (like yourself).

The school is going to see alumni, fans and members supporting winning sports and pulling donations from losing sports. This doesn't mean we support a non-football school. It just means we don't support a chitty product. This also doesn't mean we want to be a non-football school. This logic is terrible even for you.

This is how any school gets donations; when you're winning the alumni and fans tend to shower the program with more money to show their support. When you're a loser you pull donations.

So let me explain one more time.

Win = More Donations

Lose = Less Donations

where did all of this deemphasizing football BS come from?

As an alum and UM fan I will support the program that has a good coach and consistently gets the most out of his players. That is now the basketball program.

I wish we could come up with real solutions on this board such as funding a buyout fund. Something like that would make a change happen. Not boycotting the basketball program that is doing everything right (including winning an ACC title).

If fans were willing to contribute significant amounts of money for the buyout we could get Golden out of here in a week.

Ultimately if you asked every school if they would prefer being a "football" school or "basketball" school, every school would say they prefer to be a football school. That's where the true money is at, just compare the finances of a conference like the SEC which is a football conference as opposed to a conference like the ACC which is known as a basketball conference and it's not even close in revenues each conference makes. As much as the administration wants to push basketball down our throats they see it as an opportunity to earn more revenue, even they aren't dumb enough to think basketball will find their whole Athletic Department like football does. Which is why I find it comical that some of you believe that they want to make UM a basketball school like Duke (which by the way has played in one more football ACC championship game than us), even they understand the revenue stream that comes from football is much more than basketball. Which leads me to my main point, that no matter how bad our football team is we should still support the basketball program which just a couple season ago played in the NCAA tournament and play their asses off every night. They deserve our support (plus the BUC holds only 8,000 seats, so it's completely asinine to believe they could fund the whole Athletic program).
