Was at the game, and there is no doubt in my mind that LSU had better players than we did last night. We were physically outmatched.

At some point, the myth of the "underrated" South Florida 3-star needs to die.

LSU's 5-stars whipped these South Florida 3-stars, and that is something I saw with my own eyes. Especially at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

We need to recruit better. If we want to compete with the SEC, and with the Clemsons of the world, we need to start bringing in 5-star linemen who can match up with those teams physically. We need to win more recruiting battles for DT's and OL. No more "diamonds in the rough" and projects.

Obviously, the quarterback play needs to be a lot better... but I don't think Jake Burrow was anything spectacular. All he did was not lose them the game. Also, LSU didn't out-scheme anyone. They played a very vanilla game. They just lined up and beat us. They won the individual battles, and we lost.

The team with the better players won last night, IMO. And that sucks.

You are right, Until we recruit elite lineman on the OL-DL it’s going to be the same story year in and year out. The whipped us in the Trenches.

Most of our guys were recruiting by the LSUs and BAMAs as well tho. Just on starting Offense, DJ AR82 Cager JT4 Brevin all could of gone anywhere in the country. On D, Joe Jack Willis Shaq Pickney are all national recruits.

LSU wanted it more. Their coaches and players prepared better. If you would have told me one of the starting QBs was being coached by a HC who's specialty is on offense, he had 3 years in the same system, and a year of playing time under his belt, I wouldn't of picked that guy to be Rosier by the end of the game. And after 3 years with rosier, that's not all rosier's fault. Not saying he didn't make mistakes but his weaknesses should be understood by the staff by now.

FSU last year had just as much talent in terms of star rankings as LSU this year.

The idea that we couldn't compete with them is BS. A terrible QB, bad K/P, and vastly inferior DC were the difference.

This LSU team will lose 3-4 games, and they lost to Troy last year. So much for the talent gap argument

Disagree wholeheartedly. Talent gap is a lazy BS excuse.

Dabo Swinney took over Clemson in 2009. They went 15-12 his 1st 2 years. These were Clemson's class ranks in that time:

2009 - 36
2010 - 27
2011 - 10
2012 - 20
2013 - 15

In 2011 Swinney hired Chad Morris - one of the most innovative and effective OCs in modern football - and the program took off, eventually becoming a powerhouse that can recruit elite talent.

Scheme is what elevates talent and makes it look good. Scheme is what wins games and creates momentum for recruiting. Overwhelming talent does not necessarily generate good schemes and will not succeed against comparable talent with superior coaching.

Hiring a new OC & DC (or not) will determine Richt's ultimate fate. Until then I will not be overinvesting myself into being a fan of this team.

well there is what the country knows is elite and what this board thinks is elite.
If Mike Pickney was as good as he thinks he is and cager was as good as this board htinks he is, we'd have two all americans

No OP you don't understand that we are not trying to win every game. We just want only Florida players. LSU and all the other big schools actually lose because they don't have the most Florida players. Fack Tx or Georgia and even Cali. Crazy I know but some people believe that logic.

We need some war daddies in the middle, especially on D. 320lb DTs that can move. Did you see what Auburn’s DL did to Washington?

Concerning OL, I don’t think we are that far away. Richt just needs to put his foot down and start Scaife and begin working in Reed and Campbell.

fans on this board pick players and think they are better than they are. I remember when i said perry was raw and trayone didnt play like a rb.
i remember posting videos of DJ Moore (last year big ten wr of year and 1st round pick of panthers) and getting mad fun of for thinking he was better than cager. Problem is there are alot of guys that arent that good on this team. Redwine shouldnt be a starter. Knowles has no business in a power 5. goldens last couple recruiting classes really hurt us. richt threw a class together last minute in 16 but the last two are building depth. then we lose malek and irvin and have dumb and dumber declare for draft.

The concerning thing for me is that our current 2019 class looks average. People will say that our committed 3-stars are underrated.... I say that those people are homers.

We need over half of the 2019 class to be 4/5 stars on signing day if we're going to take that next step. And we need a serious influx of talent on the offensive and defensive lines.

i agree 2019 scares me.

Why are you guys not giving any credit to that LSU defense. That's an excellent defense. If we get an accurate QB that game is more competitive and I think we win.

LSU on offense is another thing, take away that 50 yard run and we outgained them.

Our QB, punter, Dean have no business being on a football field with D1 athletes.

All that being said the glaring problem is depth.

This is exactly the ‘myth’ I was referring to in another thread. It’s become a legend but wildly misunderstood.

Yes, there are underrated kids in so fla, and plenty of 3 stars who will go on to be good ... because there are so many overall kids with talent. However, that does not mean that any three star kid we take somehow will outperform higher rated kids from elsewhere ... that’s insanity to believe. EVALUATIONS MATTER. You have to identify and sign the right kids. Been saying this since Coker took Dave Howell’s commitment.

Also, our line recruiting has been abysmal. And project OL are going to get abused by 5* DL, most of the time.

Also, Louisiana ain’t Minnesota. They have great athletes. That state absolutely compares to so fla, except they keep most of the big names and we have been bleeding out too many local kids.

We talk so fla but our hit rate in broward ain’t what it should be. PBC is a toss up.

There is nothing wrong with So Fla kids or football. What’s broken is our program.

With a good pass at about 5 minutes to go we are one score down. We're much closer than the Debbie downers think

I didn’t see us being physically out matched we have an equal amount of elite talent across the board.

The 3 star south Florida myth is dead though bc Robert Knowles should never see the field... but our dline pushed their oline around all game. Our dbs matched up pretty well aside from Dean who is a south Florida bust. Blades looked pretty good out there though.

Gerald Willis Garvin and Jackson all got in the backfield consistently.

LSU was doing the same blitzes with the MLB inside or safety off the edge they didn’t do anything to suggest a talent gap.

That’s just being dishonest with yourself. LSU has backed off all 4th quarter. We lost by 2 scores and were dominated.

Now I agree we aren’t that far away but this team wasn’t ready. We have recruited much better the last few years and next year will have a very good squad. Until we no longer have players like Knowles playing in the two deep, we aren’t ready for the better teams. My real concerns is still DT though. Don’t think we are adequate there.

We didn't lose last night because LSU had more talented players. Even with a crappy QB in Rosier Vegas still had us favored by 3.5.

We lost because Richt and Manny are not good enough coaches to 1. Maximize on our position advantages and 2. Scheme around our position deficiencies

Dave Arranda is worth every penny, Manny wishes he could be that good someday. It's scary to think of what an elite OC or DC Could do with our talent. The sad thing is that if Richt repeats history, he will be very slow to make changes within his staff
