If it wasn't for Diaz Sr., he would've never been hired.
Don't kid yourself, I'm sure his dad called in some favors.
Actually, no. Another CIS urban myth.

@RVACane, we will need to ask the doctor to balance his meds. In the same day, ****, after one nap, we've gone fromI have defended Manny but love what is happening now but cannot hate him. Just look at today's team and Manny recruits starting with TVD. We owe Manny some respect! He is doing a great job at PSU and I wish him well and I am grateful for those on our roster that he discovered. I also enjoyed the one season of Greg Rousseau and the way he utilized the portal effectively before other coaches realized the potency. I admit he never would've gotten us where Mario is taking us but you haters are embarrassing, pay the man the respect he deserves. I am super glad we have Mario, but cannot ignore what Manny brought in. Look at the lists:
2021 Recruits!
2020 Recruits

and they are great playersYou do realize only four players are left from that 20' class
Dang, my fault.
I thought for sure that had happened.

FIFYI have always said Manny was a good DC with other coaches recruits. Problem is he should have never been hired at Miami. He should have taken the Temple job and when he had established himself as a good game day coach who understood what it meant to be a head coach; then he should have been offered the Miami job. I think he will end up being a head coach again but it will be at a much lesser school.
Butch was going to Dallas with JJ regardless of anything else.I think Mark Richt retired without a buyout so Miami could hire Manny. If I ever meet Mark I will ask him his role in the hire. Manny had two problems, first he made a mistake taking on the DC role and second he was to friendly with the players and didn't assert himself as the man in charge. Howard, JJ and Butch were natural leaders and demanded respect. Dennis I cannot explain except he inherited players that understood the work ethic and he had a unique offense and a drinking problem. I've often wondered if Butch would've taken the job instead of going to Dallas with JJ or if the U already planned on Dennis? Imagine if Butch replaced JJ. Butch is a big powerful man and imposing, you should see him drive a golf ball. I believe Mario has a strong personality that demands respect, a man's man, someone the players look up too.
D*** @Mklein13 I had 13 where Yu find those 5 from?18 recruits left between 2020 and 2021. Enough said....
2020-Chris Washington, Balom, Don, TVD, Flagg, Restrepo, Redding, Chantz, RiversD*** @Mklein13 I had 13 where Yu find those 5 from?
But imagine how that would've worked for usButch was going to Dallas with JJ regardless of anything else.
He hated recruiting and wasn't exactly shy about his feelings toward it. More than anything, that's his biggest shortcoming.I have always said Manny was a good DC.
