2028 Tahj "TJ" Gray 5* LB from Montvale, NJ (St. Joseph Regional HS)

TOM'S TAKE

It's still very early here, but I believe Ohio State is the school setting the tone in this recruitment. He lights up when talking about the Buckeyes. They are doing an excellent job with him, and he is buying into everything they are pitching in Columbus. Notre Dame is surely going to be a player in this recruitment. That connection to Vaughn is legit, and they would love to play college ball together. Miami is a sneaky big player in this race. Gray has a ton of interest in the Hurricanes, and we have seen in the past that when Miami lays out the red carpet, they can be very difficult to beat.

Pretty odd that Tom didn’t mention, (or i guess, know about), the elephant(s) in the room: his older brother is a 2027 ATH/EDGE committed to Washington. . .. . . Tahj was even on the OV to Washington with him.

Moreover, Tahj has another older brother named Kai Gray. Kai played his first two years of college football under former Rutgers HC Chris Ash, who is now the current DC at ND. Kai is a DB and current ND co-DC Aaron Henry was an assistant DBs coach at Rutgers under Ash for a year.

The Gray family is also connected to Oregon’s staff. One of Kai’s fellow Rutgers DBs was current Oregon WRs coach Ross Douglas. Current Oregon OC Drew Mehringer was Rutgers’ OC in 2016 before moving to PGC/WR at Texas.

Tahj made Maxpreps freshman all-American as a tight end although he has played both sides of the ball the whole time in HS.
