HC Sonny Dykes, from the Leach 'Air Raid' tree, is more responsible for SMU's offense than Lashlee. As was HC Guz Malzhan at Auburn.Great points, I should have said “the marriage between Lashlee and King” has failed through two games. I can’t understand the massive regression.
I was going to say, I thought we looked like **** tackling.Per PFF, through 2 games we are 128 of 130 teams in tackling, ahead of Texas State & Louisiana.
Tackling was rated a 46.0 vs Bama and a 39.3 vs APP. So if you trust PFF, we were worse vs App.
Yet at the end of the day, the defense only gave up 15 points. Folks are standing around complaining at a dead spot in the grass in the yard instead of noticing the smoke pouring out of the windows of the house. Miami's offense is currently 111th in the country despite having a QB that was responsible for over 50 TDs a couple years ago.
I keep seeing thread after thread about Diaz's defense. I've seen a bunch of other threads asking what is wrong with D'Eriq King. Lashlee is the Teflon Don. I don't understand how he has hypnotized so many people and convinced them to focus on the defense.
I believe the vast majority of us thought we see a lot different from Lashlee than what we’ve seen so far. I’m dumbfounded by his play calling as I know many others are as well.
Felt like they didn't miss any tackles most of the game so I believe that.Per PFF, through 2 games we are 128 of 130 teams in tackling, ahead of Texas State & Louisiana.

Bolden lead us in tackles against App State. (Hall was second) That said, Bolden has to tackle and defend the deep ball and all Hall can do is come up and tackle with the clean up plays. He gives us nothing else. Bolden essentially has two important keys where Hall has 2 as well but only excels at one which makes Boldens job that much harder IMO. Redwine would not have looked as good at FS for us those last 2 years if Jaquan wasnt exceling at run support and pass defense. Its unfair to put that much on the FS. (in this case, Bolden)Hall is a better tackler than Bolden. Somebody has to say it. Bolden has been meh since the second half of last year.
Overhyped....
Better? I guess so but there were still many missed tackles and bad angles. People in my section kept screaming “tackle” all night long because App State wasn’t going down.It was better. But tackling Bama's athletes vs App State's……..

Who hired Lashlee as his 2nd coordinator? The defense is easier to focus on because it’s a direct line to blaming Diaz. But you are correct, it’s Lashlee who has been a bigger failure thus far.
You're kinda right. It's the Hal Mumme tree though.HC Sonny Dykes, from the Leach 'Air Raid' tree, is more responsible for SMU's offense than Lashlee. As was HC Guz Malzhan at Auburn.
It wasn't about tackling facts...it was about those players break tackles cause they are monsters. It was better. But tackling Bama's athletes vs App State's……..
people in your section? youre telling me you cry day and night on here about manny needing to be gone, blake needing to be gone, fly the banners etc. (not that i disagree with any of those things) and you still support this university and attend the games?Better? I guess so but there were still many missed tackles and bad angles. People in my section kept screaming “tackle” all night long because App State wasn’t going down.
Much like Manny, I got no defense.people in your section? youre telling me you cry day and night on here about manny needing to be gone, blake needing to be gone, fly the banners etc. (not that i disagree with any of those things) and you still support this university and attend the games?
you are literally enabling the problem that troubles you so deeply lmao
Bolden > Hall? Agreed.Bolden lead us in tackles against App State. Think you meant Bolden is praised and considered one of best safeties in ACC. And yes i agree with your comment he is no way deserves any of that. Hall is meh in coverage but cleans up and saves our *** on a lot of runs cause our LB's do literally nothing but eat blocksBolden > Hall? Agreed.
My main point wasn't that Hall was the better player but he is a better tackler. And, while Hall is often criticized (and deservedly so), Hall is often praised and considered by many the best safety in the ACC. He hasn't played up to his billing since the final few games of last year.
Yes....Bolden...thanks.Think you meant Bolden is praised and considered one of best safeties in ACC. And yes i agree. Hall is meh in coverage but cleans up and saves our *** on a lot of runs cause our LB's do literally nothing but eat blocks
Probably so because this team takes bad angles and the pre snap alignment is almost always wrong...so yeahBut is it a missed tackle if you are 5 yards away from the play? Asking for a friend.
Pre-snap alignment makes me crazy. It’s so easy to see running lanes before they even snap the ball.Probably so because this team takes bad angles and the pre snap alignment is almost always wrong...so yeah
