Tackling against AppState

Hall is the poster child for "ridiculous angles." I cannot imagine that he is better that James Williams in that regard. Sucks Balom is out, because he would be getting plenty of reps rn.
Hall is on the field because he is a consistent tackler. The kid had nine solos Saturday evening. You want to ***** about Hall in coverage so be it. That is fair, but he has been very good supporting the run.

The problem I have is Diaz asks his safeties to do way too much. For his scheme to even have a chance, he has to have all-conference first team safeties at the position. There were times yet again where Miami was out leveraged against App State. Fortunately, Brice missed it.

Carter took multiple bad angles and lost contain. We have two kids on the field at linebacker who have never been the same since they've had to recover from serious injury. Out of position play after play losing gap integrity needlessly.

To me it looked just as bad.

App st was a way better tackling team.

App St. tackled our guys about as well as Alabama did, from where I sat. That was surprising. I thought we'd shake more tackles against a team that isn't favored to win the NC. But that didn't really happen.

I'm getting pretty frustrated with this aspect of our team, specifically this year so far - our inability to run through or shed tackles. I can understand struggling with this against a much more talented team, but they went down really easily against App St. too. Granted, larger sample size, but they broke more tackles last year. I'm getting pretty sick of seeing these guys run like wusses. King seems to be the only guy with a little shake and the ability to make guys miss.

Our talent should give teams like app st major problems. It doesn't because they are so poorly coached.

21 & 8 are straight dirt divers. Dline does not do enough to adjust their body to tackle, just stick their arms out. Worst coached team in America outside FSU.

I actually thought it was pretty terrible vs app.

Yet at the end of the day, the defense only gave up 15 points. Folks are standing around complaining at a dead spot in the grass in the yard instead of noticing the smoke pouring out of the windows of the house. Miami's offense is currently 111th in the country despite having a QB that was responsible for over 50 TDs a couple years ago.

I keep seeing thread after thread about Diaz's defense. I've seen a bunch of other threads asking what is wrong with D'Eriq King. Lashlee is the Teflon Don. I don't understand how he has hypnotized so many people and convinced them to focus on the defense.

The defense is easier to focus on because it’s a direct line to blaming Diaz. But you are correct, it’s Lashlee who has been a bigger failure thus far.

Not to derail the thread, because there are a million other threads on it. But seriously, go back to any SMU game the last year Lashlee was there. It is like it a completely different offense. Guy was using a variety of different formations, feed the ball to the TE all the time, and worked the entire field. Maybe its me, but with King, it seems like 80% of the passes are outside the hash marks and other teams are figuring it out. The middle of the field isn't even touched most of the time.

Great points, I should have said “the marriage between Lashlee and King” has failed through two games. I can’t understand the massive regression.

I believe the vast majority of us thought we see a lot different from Lashlee than what we’ve seen so far. I’m dumbfounded by his play calling as I know many others are as well.
