2027 Ta’Shawn Poole, S: Howard, GA

I'm guessing it's one or the other. While it would certainly be nice to get both, that money might be better spent in other positions. Jones and one of Hyppolite/Poole would be an excellent Safety class.

Well this was also when Hyppolite was cheaper. Think he was a 3star right? Now he's 142nd in the composite. I think Poole got a bump as well tbh. So yeah unlikely now. But I would have prioritized trying to do that as soon as we got Glover committed.

I'd probably say most likely result is us getting Hyppolite and then UGA coming in at the last min to get Poole or he chooses UTenn. I think Hyppolite is the staffs "priority" currently. But Poole has an OV setup with us next weekend pretty sure, And our main competitors are FSU, UTenn, and Clemson? FSU isn't on our level and even as the 3rd safety we could probably off more/better than them. Clemson has 2 Safeties already committed, obviously Poole would be the best, but they're also on another top 200 safety out of Alabama they've already received crystal balls for placed yesterday and today. They will only get 1 or the other. So what is the real competition? just UTenn and maybe UGA coming back around? I mean it's not impossible. We will see after his OV

But I personally have thought for a while we should target 3 safeties this class. I would be happy with Jones, Hyppolite, and a more developmental or low 4star/high3star type guy, or even a late riser in the process. Cause with Hussey off team now, Entering 2027 season we would have:

1yr Elig: Poyser, Thornton, Day .... And any/all 3 of them could enter draft or portal out in the case of Day
2yr Elig: Bryce Fitzgerald ... and 2027 may be his final season here.
3yr Elig: Dunnigan ... Definitely going to play a lot this year.
4yr Elig: Cortez Redding, Jones, Hyppolite

Okay so that is 5 Definite guys, potentially 8. If those upperclassman returned, we obviously wouldn't need to sign 3. But I don't see that happening. If Day isn't playing this year I see him portalling out. And I think Thornton returns, but Poyser likely declares. So most likely imo we will have 6 safeties on roster in 2027, which is borderline fine. But then 2028 you'd most likely just have 4 safeties returning and only 1 of them with experience. So you'd probably have to hit the portal. The problem is We really wouldn't know about Poyser/Thornton/Day and whether we'd be retaining them or not... **** its realistic we could enter 2027 with only 15 DBs (not enough) and only 1 has had any starting reps so far - Fitzgerald....

I mean I guess we can just go into 2027 and hit portal if we think we are not going to return any of the upperclassman, so 2 is fine.
