Syracuse transfer WR Trebor Pena to visit Miami this week

More than fine. You bring in Marion and Johnson then you’re adding enough competition for the young guys to step up their play and create depth. If Hurst is brought in then even better.

Kid is from the northeast, Penn State was in the Final 4 and he was on the team that put the final nail in the coffin of our season where we had the #1 overall pick playing QB and still choked away the ACC Title...not that surprising I guess.

Need to make this happen. I genuinely have no idea how anyone here is comfortable riding with Ray Ray and Toney in the slot, especially given our early season schedule.

Luke has the tweet ready the second Pena is signed. These guys don’t think rationally.

We need to start blowing teams the **** out. That’s been one of the many problems the last 20 years is that even the bottom tier in talent ACC teams you are still playing the starters early 4th quarter.

The young guys don’t get a meaningful opportunity to play and you don’t get an opportunity to evaluate.

We would feel different if Ray Ray got a lot of snaps in the second half of games last year.
The benches got emptied at least three times last year. The problem is, you’re not going to get a good read on a player in garbage time against trash teams. Most of the time you’re just running out the clock and even if you are being aggressive, it’s against Ball State so who cares? Emory Williams looked like Dan Marino against them. Your other option is bringing in backups much earlier but that often times turns games that should be 50-7 into 35-17 type of games. I would have preferred we got a little more game action for Trader, Carr and Joseph but you’re talking about the 5th 6th and 7th receiver. How many teams are going 7 deep against good competition?

Sometimes you have to trust what the coaches are seeing in practice. Everyone thought we desperately needed a WR1 last year. We didn’t. Horton turned out to be a good player despite not showing much before last season. The same thing happened with George the season earlier. At some point, you have to rely on inexperienced players to come in and get some real game experience..

Similar issue as our DT thread exchange… At WR, we have 8 guys for a room that has 3-4 on the field at any given time. 1 dude, Chance, has been injured so often he is totally unreliable. Another, Daniels, is only now coming off an injury. We only have 1 Big who is a true freshman, and don’t really have a true burner to blow the top off the coverage.

Based on what? We have 2 WR on campus today.
To be fair, one is primarily a kick returner and the other one will be for depth purposes. I question how much of an impact they will really have. But we will see

That's what I'm saying I don't understand how people are saying this wouldn't be a big loss. Ray Ray & Toney have done zero at the college level yet and we don't know how good these guys are. Toney should be a guy we ease into the season not be counting on as a true freshman.

Imagine going into the season with CJ & Jojo and a ton of true freshmen or red shirt freshmen

I do think we need another body. The staff knows what they have. If Dawson and Beard think they need a true #1, then by all means do whatever is necessary. If they’re confident in their guys but need depth, then get a depth piece.

If anyone would have known Horton would be second on the team in receptions and the guy they brought in to be the #1 receiver would be fourth in catches and fifth in yardage, I think they probably would have preferred to give Brown’s snaps to the younger guys.

Just flat out whiffed on WRs in the portal to date, which is unacceptable after last season’s production and subsequently lack of retention.

Marion is our last hope, and even he wouldn’t be what we really need imo (but better than nothing).

A lot of pressure on a young and questionable WR room that has zero proven depth to follow it.

Our only real addition is an often-injured guy that feasted on the worst conference in America (CUSA) and was chased off at LSU.

We desperately need JoJo to become that guy.
