Art imitates life. You keep your nose down and grind only good things can come of it. Not pounding your chest or tweeting out your Top 11 schools crap. Some are gifted more genetically/athletically but never reach their potential because they ain’t got the grind in them. A true quote for sports but equally or of greater importance in life.

You said it right there. These are pretend times and a fraudulent fake-it-til-you-make-it approach—which is where greatness comes from.

Swag comes from putting in the work that has you prepared to take care of business in primetime when the lights come on.

Used to be a greater understanding for the process and paying one's dues. That's a lost are these days. If Diaz can get kids to buy into that approach, Miami will become a machine again—but you're not puling from a vast pool of local kids who want to do that anymore. Most kids are front-runners these days and want to go play for the brightest and shiniest team.

Long gone are the cats who were signing up to be part of a rebuild and took pride in knowing they could be the class that ate s**t for a few years, but finally put UM back on the map.

Great post.
My thing is............ if we have 4 and 5 stars running around, are they thinking "With my 4/5 stars, why the **** should I be grinding like that 2 star across the way . Is it beneath my status of stars to do this, and how would this look on my social page ?.".

That mentality has to go.............( and Manny is getting there)...but the BIG question is how do Coaches get the team members, who are into "Mulitple devices, and social media" to buy into the sweat equity that Swag means at the U?

It is a huge task for Manolo, but I think he is ready for it.

Very true....JJ, Schnelly, Butch, did.....Erickson, and Clappy, not too much..the team took care of it all.
 
The first ingredient of "swag" is winning. If you're hot dogging it as a 5* and go 7-5, you don't have swag. But if you're busting your *** and go 7-5, you still don't have swag. Just win.
