Survey: Hardest/Easiest Position For Freshman

The more a position depends on athleticism, the easier it is to make an early impact - WR, CB, RB.
The more it depends on some combination of physical development and/or football IQ, the more difficult - DT, OL, QB

Yall who are saying anything on the DL is the easiest is crazy... The game speed is insane from high school to college. Let alone as a freshman.

Offense
Easiest - RB/WR, depending on the system/role. If the RB doesn't do a lot of blitz pickup, it's easy....just do what you do. Most don't have a clue how/who to block. WR can be super easy for a lot of spread offenses with limited route trees, but more difficult for teams with checks, option routes, motion, etc.
Hardest - QB. OL is definitely hard as well, but for most it's strength or technique. For QB, it's physical and mental (progressions, checks, reading defenses, blocking alignments, etc) but also the leadership/"it" factor as well.

Defense
Easiest - DEnd/Rush LB. See ball, get ball.
Hardest - S/MLB, whichever is responsible for aligning the defense and making the calls/checks. If you made me pick today, i would probably say safety. They are so important in today's RPO spread offenses and can blow a coverage very easily.

Easiest is a toss up between RB and Wr. Both are by far the easiest positions to make and impact at as a freshman.
QB is probably the hardest on offense, with like OT second behind them.
Defensively no position is easier than RB or Wr, but I'd say LB or Cb is probably the easiest to at least be decent at as a freshman. Safety or any of the DL positions are hard

Why do people keep saying DE?

What's easy about taking on 315+ pound Offensive Tackles that are grown men?
Against pass pro it might not be so hard but against the run...you're 18-19 years old and you have to lock your hands onto a 6'5" 320lb 20-22 year old OT and bench-press him while holding the edge. What's easy about that?
It ain't "see ball, get ball" anymore like high school.

DEFENSE
Easiest - CB
Hardest - kinda depends on scheme IMO but I'd say anything in the middle of the defense. DT, LB and Safety. DT is physically hard. LB and Safety involve a lot of split second reads as well as getting your teammates lined up properly (checks, audibles, etc). If you wanted to get real technical you could talk about which LB position is harder as well, since they involve different duties.

OFFENSE
Easiest - RB, WR
Hardest - QB, OL

TE is the hardest to be really good as a true freshman. OT is next.

QB’s that do the QB coach thing all their lives and enroll early can play quickly.

Defense, it’s DT. The physical grind is legit and not many are ready for it.

Next is MLB. The physical pounding is one thing, but all the checks and alignments are a lot for a true freshman to master.

Defense. Nose tackle, by far, you have very little responsibility other then an a gap. Physically take a while though.

Offense. Fb isn’t very hard at all. Tb for the none dinosaur positions.

Hardest
Offense: Physically OL, Mentally QB
Defense: Physically DL, Mentally MLB

Easiest
Offense: WR
Defense: CB

While all are very difficult and face different challenges, you see more success from skill position players.

This is mine as well. Couldn’t have said it better
