just speaking from the past I recall some high scoring affairs in that ball park…. I remember one of the bigger chokes I can recall in canes baseball 5 or 6 years ago at Louisville where we scored 8 of 9 in first 2 innings and ended up losing the game

Exactly this. I remember hearing on the telecast of one of the games against Southern Miss about how they were near the bottom of the country in stolen bases, but that Louisville is a team that really likes to run. That's going to be a big part of the game, and Smith is going to have to bring his A-game to help us keep that to as much of a minimum as possible.

Looked it up - Southern Miss is tied for LAST in the country with 17 bags on the year. Louisville is 7th in the nation at 152 steals. The only teams we've played this year that steals close to that many bags were UConn (138) and Stetson (131) who are 11th and 16th, respectively.

We were a combined 1-3 against UConn and Stetson. We yielded 9 steals to UConn losing that 3-game set, but oddly enough - 0 steals to Stetson in an 11-2 midweek loss.

OT ... sort of: for Louisville the city (and not just because it's on the good side of the Ohio River)

Some nice neighborhoods and cool places to hang out. People were cool, too (that was 10-15 years ago ... things may have changed ).
