Sun Life Renovations Begin

Ive talked to several season ticket holders (canes and Dolphins) and their take is the stadium is just fine.
****, its only what, 20 years old?

People gonna ***** regardless. They would find fault with anything.
The Orange Bowl is gone. Get over it.

I will admit it looks much worse than what was described to me. Thanks for pictures.

Even your house needs to be remodeled after 20+ years. Stadium was built in 87 when we only had 1 professional franchise.

Amazing since the move from OB Dolphins haven't won sh*t but Heat and Marlins have won combined 5 Titles

So it was because of the venue they won those titles? The Dolphins are losing because of Ross and the Canes are losing because of Golden. Nothing more.

Lipstick, meet pig.

Ever been to Solider Field?

No, But I understand its quite old? Much older than sun life? Good shape? Bad shape?

dolphins aren't losing bc of the owner. theyre losing of the poor hires and GM (he inherited Waynes mistakes in Parcells, Ireland, etc.). he's not a football guy but is trying to surround himself w football minds to make those decisions. the owner is spending money on the team in FA and in facilities which is all u can ask for from the guy. I've been to Soldier Field for the ND-UM game and its renovated but weirdly done. half of it is a space ship and the other half has the tradition. feels like they only bothered to redo half of it.

Is it going to get a new name along with the facelift? I nominate Potemkin Village Stadium.

They rebuilt Soldier Field entirely. Every existing seat was demolished. The outer facade was retained to identify it as the original, but it is an all new stadium.

Don't believe me? Check it out on Google Earth.

Some of you complain even if you were to win the Lottery. Capacity is going from 76,000 to 66,000. Seats will be closer to the field, four jumbotrons at each corner of the end zones, and canopy to cover the fans from the outdoor elements. These are all positive. It's $350MM in renovations that will turn this almost 30 yr old stadium into a beauty Queen again.

Stop your **** *****ing! *****es!

The capacity for our games is at 55000 unless it's fsu

Selling only lower bowl tickets was what they should have done a long time ago. In any case getting rid of those orange seats was the best thing they could think of. It will be more noisy with that roof on as well. If the canes start winning I bet you no one complains about this crap anymore.

I can hear Golden now after our 3rd consecutive home loss..."You know Joe, it's tough to overcome the environment, with the ongoing renovations and everything. But that's on me..."

No amount of renovations will be able to give Sun Lifeless Stadium heart & character, it will still look and feel like a neutral field, the stadium will still produce average fan experience and a empty feeling in a location that's barely in Dade County

anyone who thinks this is bad news is frankly insane or shortsighted. This will help the Canes, the Dolphins and the area (by attracting more events like the Super Bowl).

Totally agree! But *****es will be *****es...

Totally agree. The closer to fields will help. But, that roof with greatly enhance the noise level. It will provide home field advantage

@TomGarfinkel: This all gets ripped out including the concrete... Seats will be closer to the field. http://t.co/axGnhLtaTO

This is actually surprising. I think everyone thought they were literally just going to add some more seats, and pass that off as "moving closer to the field". Still, does that mean they are moving all the seats closer?

Well, if you add 8 rows to the front of a section, and remove the last 8 rows, you've just moved all the seats in that section closer to the field. It really puzzles me how people expect to actually move all the seats.
