That he scored 31 points while running a caveman offense.

That loss was on the defense.

I’ll raise you the 4th Quarter whiff on 4 straight plays

The wildcat play that was idiotic

And the wasted chance to go up double digits but instead they go 3 and out

Dawson is trash

Only people like us that “KNOW” what Andy Reid offenses used to look like can appreciate this. The days of trying to scheme Todd Pinkston and James Thrash open multiple years have scarred me for life. Totally different in KC than he was in Philly.
Todd Pinkston

That dude was skinny

Which is why you motion and shift guys!!!!!!!!!

To help determine the coverage
agree with u there. best guess is once TVD realized it was zone he just skipped the brashard read and went to jacolby outside

That’s a reasonable assessment.

My other gripe is why not throw the fade to the 6’ 5” C Young who has proven to win most of the 50/50 balls
yup that woulda been a better option too. my biggest gripe in that sequence dawson called is that he didn't even try a rub/pick play to get a receiver open, or do some variation of that 49ers play with brashard in the backfield. especially cause we called that timeout. once you do that you've committed to the 4th down play deciding the game, and you call a slant with no motion after calling a slant with no motion on the previous play. dumb as ****

Also, on that sack - no one picked up TVD.

When do you ever see where an offensive line doesn’t pick up their QB, especially Francis who gave up the sack. Something happened on that play call and these guys don’t seem to care for TVD.
I’ve seen it before. Lineman can get very egotistical as a unit…almost cult like and if they think they’re carrying **** they can quickly isolate themselves from the rest of the team.

They weren’t picking up running backs either.

Totally agree.

This isn’t you, but for the people in the pro Dawson camp, I want them to detail why they want to retain him if we hypothetically removed, for arguments sake, these two reasons:

1. For consistency
2. TVD melting down

I legitimately want to see someone outline what it is about Dawson that would lead them to argue why it’s the right choice

i think the best argument is that guys have been open but our yipsy QB has just missed a lot of them. like even on that 4th down play i think it's a TD to restrepo too if TVD just threw the ball to the pylon.

colby clears that space out and the corner is locked in on him and not in position to peel off of him onto restrepo, but TVD didn't trust it and went to the worst/lowest % option. so even with a basic and uncreative playcall 2 guys were open for a touchdown and the QB missed them.

but even with our QB issues something seems off about dawson's offense. i know we don't have a true #1 big play receiver, which is gonna make it choppy, but he's gotta be a lot better if he comes back next year. i think he's struggling marrying the heavy run sets that mario and mirabel love (and i don't hate them, especially with how talented our OL is this year) with the passing game. we basically have 2 separate offenses and he hasn't figured out how to mix the two making a cohesive offense, imo.

Dan Mullen did. All the best guys do. I remember a play KC ran with Hill in the slot in near the goal line. He went in motion slow then as he started back to the left he full on sprinted back to the right flat and the defender was beat. It was obviously man in that type situation and he got the matchup he wanted. A few weeks later Mullen did the same thing with Toney,,,,,td as well. Andy Reid has admitted to stealing a bunch from college Oc’s. The transformation of his offense the last fifteen years is crazy. You can’t even recognize it anymore .
Every single industry in the world is plagiarism of plagiarism. There's no shame in it. You're an idiot if you DON'T steal good ideas.

I could potentially buy what you described, but how do you defend the extreme lack of motion, RPO, variety of screens and RB screens, misdirection in run game

i don't have a defense, and i doubt we see much progress in those areas if he comes back. i'm not his biggest fan, and if there's any chance dorsey is interested in coaching in college at his alma mater mario needs to kick those tires - hard. (think there is zero chance of this as dorsey led one of the top offenses in the NFL by analytics and is probably gonna get a plum NFL OC job if he wants it)

i think the upside/growth areas with dawson next year are:
- we get a QB that throws the ball to the guys who are open and not to the other team
- we get a QB that's a threat to run
- we get/develop a true #1 WR so the offense isn't playing in a phone booth
- dawson figures out how to mesh his "air raid" passing offense with the power run stuff mario and mirabel love. it's been reported that dawson agreed to certain parameters when he was hired, so it's his job (& mario's too) to make that work
- arroyo is healthy and williams/skinner make a big leap so the TE is a threat in the passing game
i think we're in for a world of dissapointment if we expect dawson to all of a sudden become as creative as say norvell or brohm, but while i don't love the guy i think he can be succesful here if we get competent QB play and WRs that can stretch the field consistently

He does a great job breaking things down. Dawson is an issue but not very often (we know why) do they ever fault the QB.

We can debate the percent blame to go around between Dawson/Mario and TVD but I promise it’s not 70% on Dawson. It lies somewhere in the middle and combined you get the results that we have.
Ro does- they all do on their podcast show. Everyone shares blame. One of the game film breakdowns was about TVD misses. Probably either UVA or NC State.

They don't play favorites - but Roman is NOT a Dawson fan. I guess I'd say he'd call him a "JAG" as a coach
