For the past 15+ years I hear people on here hoping Florida State or Florida is undefeated before they face us (and if we win, hope they win out) or most recently that ND wins out to help our chances of getting into the playoffs if we don't win the ACC.
Guess what, though? In the past 15 years we have won 10 games twice. So all those times you were rooting for rivals either before or after our game was for nothing.
At the end of the day what is best for the Hurricanes long term is always for our recruiting rivals to lose. Even in your best case scenario, Miami goes undefeated and makes it to the playoffs and FSU only loses 1 game to Miami: do you think that it will make more than a marginal difference in recruiting? Do you think someone that wanted to go to FSU is going to go to Miami because we won the head to head matchup, and were ranked 3 spots higher than FSU?
Compare that to Miami even winning just 10 games, but FSU and UF only winning 2-5. That will lead to recruits, where money and all other things are equal, to go to Miami as we show we are heading in the right direction.
Rant over, I just can't stand hearing people on here rooting for our biggest rivals win. I understand SoS, feel free to root for USF and other teams that we don't usually recruit against that we beat to play well, but UF, FSU, or even ND? Miss me with that. If we can't make it to the ACC title game we don't deserve to make the playoffs.
