There would be violence. After a nationwide search... blah blah blah blah blah.... I can see this happening.
Well done. I understand this is a football forum but the words “the athletic department is bigger than just the football team” is paramount. I’m not saying some of the names of former players being kicked around are foolish or wouldn’t work out when it comes to potential AD’s. Bottom line is their few primary targets have been a part of programs who had success across the board, as they should.Who did you guys expect, the third in command?
You know the athletic department is bigger than just the football team and things still need to operate day-to-day, right?
It specifically says she will make decisions.
It's scary, but it's the Miami way. We fired Coker to hire Shannon. We practically forced Richt out and rushed to hire Diaz. I have real concerns if good hires aren't made this time around. So much so that I could see myself becoming very, very indifferent towards UM athletics. I have better things to do with my time than waste it on a bad product. There would be violence.
There is plenty left to worry about. The fact that the #2 in charge is now in charge now that the former #1 has been dealt with is not one of them. Nor is the possibility that Patsy Flynn will be kept around. You don't fire Dumb just so that you can replace him with Dumber.
Now, how these two imbeciles ever got to be #1 and #2 at such a prestigious university remains something to question and be concerned about as long as anyone involved in those decisions remains, but let's see what happens next.
Jennifer Strawley, the University’s deputy director of athletics, will serve as interim athletics director during the search period. Strawley will work closely and collaboratively with the president, as well as with Rudy Fernandez, in his role as chief of staff to the president, and Joe Echevarria, in his role as senior advisor to the president.
Like how much toilet paper to orderShe will make decisions on the day-to-day aspects of the job...
There are only a very small handful of BOT members, literally, that are going to have significant input into hiring coach.Well done. Realize it’s a different thread but the idea that Manny has support from certain members who have input in decision making activities and somehow he’s possibly going to stick around is not the case. Manny is done just like I said BJ would exit under a “mutual understanding”. Yes there are members of the BOT who like him. But a few of those were very much aligned with BJ as well and you see where that got him. Understand our BOT is astronomical in size compared to many other schools. It’s a bloated networking wasteland that at times collapses under its own weight when it comes to decision making.
100%There are only a very small handful of BOT members, literally, that are going to have significant input into hiring coach.
Manny Diaz having any kind of support, especially solid support, from the BOT is a myth.
Someone has to pay the bills, approve time off, approve team travel expenses..She will make decisions on the day-to-day aspects of the job...
If paul dee did it...im cool with that. But not a hack like her.Or a Paul Dee.
Make coffee.Someone has to pay the bills, approve time off, approve team travel expenses..
well you got a PR guy ( who used to be a bureaucrat and a Lobbyist) a President who probably knows more about soccer, then football, and Blake's right hand person. Just hope Strawley doesn't go off on her own, and decides to hire a coach, just like her mentor. My concern is whether Frenk, Fernandez, Echevarria, and Strawley are competent to even organize a search. I am getting too old to wait yet again.
