Strangest place you've run into a Miami fan

I've met Canes fans all over but I ran into a Canes fan and ex-season ticket holder in a Juneau, Alaska jewelry store. He left Ft. Lauderdale and bought the business there.

I was hiking down Stone Mountain, Ga. and about half way down I run into somebody walking up who sees my shirt and says, " Miami in the house!" That's the last thing i expected to hear.

What's the strangest place something like that's happened to you?

I live in east San Diego County, I was grocery shopping early in a weekend morning & this older dude in a sweet Jag sports car stopped right in front of me as I walking out carrying groceries (I was wearing a U shirt)...he was UM alum. We talked for a couple minutes. Very cool.

I guess we can consider former players as fans, for the sake of storytelling.

Drunk in Las Vegas around 1999, or so—in line waiting to get into Drai's on a Friday night—I recognize former quarterback Frank Costa and some buddies going towards the front of the line and I immediately start screaming about the 1994 win over #1 Florida State at the Orange Bowl—34-20 against the defending champs. Started doing the C-A-N-E-S chant in line, just acting like you'd expect out of a drunk then 24-year old in Vegas.

Turns out it was Costa's bachelor party and a few of his Philly buddies were loving my whole schtick that they invited me to roll in with them to some private area and hang / drink with them. Only stuck around 15-20 minutes as they didn't need another dude crashing their party, but had a drink with Frank, talked Canes a bit and wished him well on his nuptials.

I've also crossed path with Lamar Thomas over the years at a few charity golf tourneys—most-notably Monday After The Masters in Myrtle Beach back in 2005. All those Hootie guys are Gamecocks, so had some fun talking smack with a Canes legend. Didn't expect him at that event any more than I thought I'd run into a former player in line at a club in Vegas, but both made for fun, unexpected evenings.

Im working as a contractor in Kuwait (that's the middle east between Iraq, Iran, and Saudi Arabia). While walking through Avenues (the 2nd biggest mall in the middle east) I saw a group of 5 guys with 2 of em wearing UM Polo's. Walked by them and initiated the "all about the U" exchange.

I'd probably say Caracas and San José, Venezuela and also Soweto and Alexandra in SA, but to be honest I'm no longer surprised when someone throws up the U or says what's up Cane...people know who we are.

Not a weird spot but I was completely surprised about the amount of love I got from people in Vegas, last year. I had close to 10 people yell “go canes” to me.

This is odd.
Just this past Friday I was at my local community fitness center swimming pool in the Chicago suburbs.
I was representing with my giant green "U" Towel wrapped around myself and some dude in the locker room says "nice towel".
Me thinking it was some Big 10 weirdo I thought maybe he was being sarcastic.

However, I looked around and it was a guy who pointed to his "U" polo shirt and he lifted up the U :11263272045-489f4f7972-o:.
I said it is all about the "U" and we briefly talked about the season and this upcoming season.

Was an unexpected moment to talk to a fellow Canes fan here in Chicago. Refreshing really.
This was smelling like a ghey **** scene unwinding.

In Florence, Italy. It was funny because that day I declared to my sister that I bet I'm the only person in the entire country rocking UM gear today. She wasn't having any of it. Sure enough I was wrong lol. Met a group of kids rocking U gear. We global baby!!

I was up in the mountains outside L A. They had huge trees that looked like our Florida pine trees but much larger. I took some pictures and they did not demonstrate how big the trees were. Two men were walking by so asked if they would take a picture with me standing beside the trees. Turns out both were doctors and grads of the U and I had a U shirt on. We talked football for an hour. Became friends and met later for dinner.

@The Franchise .... you’re slipping.

This post is basically a big fat juicy slow pitch softball for you.

Denver, Colorado while at a trade show. Dude saw my Canes shirt and threw up the U. Haven't met any in California so far. Tons of Dolphins fans though.
