Stop with the "ace recruiter" talk

recruiting and player development is like fishing ...... you gotta clean em after you catch em.

I swear he was a 3 star when he was committed to us
He blew up in the camp circuit. I along with many other Miami fans weren't devastated when he didn't come here
He was a 5 star at the end. Short legs, no wiggle, and is slow. You’re right, He played the south FL recruiting game, which got his status up.
We can add guys like Sam Bruce to the list as well. These guys are completely overrated because they’re from South FL. The recruiting world is evening out somewhat which is better for UM. The more we claim South FL 3 stars are 4 stars everywhere else the less gems we get.

very true

the much more natural path for sustained success would be to not base hires on recruiting prowess

saban didn't have the level of talent he has now when he won his first NC, neither did Clemson

they exceed expectations and out perform their talent level to reach the big one and then sustained success brings recruiting

i'm not saying recruiting isn't important. but half the board in every single thread says "hire this guy, he's an awesome recruiter"

our OC needs to be an elite PLAYCALLER, who gives a **** about recruiting if you have someone who can make it happen no matter what. Recruiting would take care of itself

Perfectly said. Recruiting is very important. But we need every coach and coordinator to be elite coaches and we will get elite results.

Another thing. Imo, were not as far off as people say for competing for a national championship. Everyone always wants to keep talking about the 5 star depth of alabama. While depth is extremly important, its about the starters. With the right coaches, and the right QB, we can take down anybody.i think D$ mentioned it. Stoutland said it when he left and went to Bama. Vernon was better then Upshaw. Miller was better then Richardson. Henderson was better then Fluker. We got some great talent that comes through here. Just need coaches that get the most out of them. If we had a top OC (and ST coach), we would have been In the playoffs this year. We have the right man leading the way now. Just need to fill the staff out with coaches his caliber

There are 2 Coaches in the nation that are good enough to go far with 3 stars. Chryst and Dantonio. It is a lot easier to find an elite recruiter that will out talent guys than it is to find the needle in the haystack coach that can take a bunch of 3 stars and actually succeed.

Face it. You're not going outrecruit the "bag" teams unless you play the bag game. We have neither the resources nor the underground network to do so.

I agree with the poster. Our most feasible option is to hire X's and O's guys and development beasts. Put some wins. Nah, we're not gonna make the CFP the first year, but we can definitely knock the socks off of BC, UVa, and GaTech.

With the right staff, year 2 we can at least scratch the CFP bubble. We did it last year with Rosier and Richt taking lead.

You need SOME ace recruiters on your staff if you want to compete on the national level, period. Nick Saban isn't Nick Saban without his bagmen

U are correct. He was a 3 star when committed to us, then he blew up on the camp circuits. But if memory serves correct, we botched that recruitment. Iirc, we tried to convince him to play another position.

You can hire all the “ace” recruiters you want, Saban, Dabo, And UGA are going to keep taking all the best players as long as Miami remains the dumpster fire it is

We need COACHES who can actually scheme and out smart another staff. We don't need people to go into homes like used car salesman, get top talent and then waste in on the field. Shannon did plenty of that which is why we sucked as a program and we're watching all the early 2010's canes play in the NFL right now after producing literally nothing in Miami.

Number of 4 star or 5 star players on roster

Wisconsin : 7 (yes, as in SEVEN)

Miami: 34

Game Results last week: Miami got *** kicked 35-3

is our defense the most talented? no. But we finished #1 in major key areas like TFL and passing defense. Why you ask? because of COACHING.

Does recruiting matter? sure. but not nearly as much as coaching does and all this talk about having to find someone to recruit is just absurd. The best recruiting strategy is to win and you do that by having the best coaches. Until we can dominate like Clemson, Bama, and even UGA recently we won't compete for top recruits.

Give me an awkward air raid OC who can't formulate a sentence or win over recruits in homes and then proceeds to drop 40 every Saturday any day of the week
you need both. the oc/dc should be x and o guys position coaches u n eed some who can coach and others who just flat out recruit if can do both better for it but fact is u need great schemes and great recruiting. there is a reason jimmy said its nto about the x and os but the jimmy's and the joe's cause it is bama has the best talent , Clemson is close. u need both

It’s not only about X’s and O’s and Recruiting it’s also about a mindset and establishing a culture of excellence. I would prefer the guy that has been around an elite culture and can expire guys to buy in. To me that’s what separates Jeff Scott. He’s not one of these coaches that have jumped around from school to school. He’s been in the **** and knows what it took to take Clemson to the next level. I read an article the Ed Oliver was about to fight Major Applewhite. The perception is Major and Fedora are better x’s and O’s Coaches but they still haven’t won ****. Are players gonna want run through a wall for them? ***** these bum *** failed head coaches take a chance we literally have nothing to lose and all to gain. Worse case scenario we get a new coach
