Stop Giving the defense a Pass

Yes we are a Top 20 Defense against garbage opponents....What a joke of a fan base!! And Y'all wonder why we 6-6....Get the FOH with this garbage defense......They will get steam rolled by a top 5 opponent.

Definitely not giving them a pass but when you go 3 and out almost every **** time, your D is going to get gassed and question why they need to play so hard. It's a ******* morale killer.​
 
4.73 yards per play allowed actually wasn't bad. I'd say we slightly overachieved.

Last season we allowed 4.30. I posted that we would lose a half yard per play to 4.80

The defense looked much better with a leader like Bolden out there in the secondary. The blitz calls have killed us many times, just poorly called most of the year. Going three and out all the time and the worst third down conversion on offense didn't help the D either. Not horrible but not good defense overall, enough to win most games though with a competent O.
 
Baker needs to go more than Enos IMO.

He was handed a very solid group on D and Enos was essentially handed a pile of trash. That doesn't mean Enos gets a pass, but Baker had more talent on D than just about any team in the ACC other than Clemson and was out-schemed in every game except UVA and FSU.
 
We gave up 30 to FIU. The only teams to allow more point to them were UMASS, Charlotte, LaTech and UTEP. Schools to held them to less? Tulane, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Old Dominion, FAU and Marshall. Yes you read those names correctly.

The 28 points we gave up to GT? Their highest point total of the year. Yes that is correct. Their highest. In their other 2 wins they scored 14 and 28 points. Who held them to less besides the entire ACC? USF and the Citadel.

We have played lights out at times - FSU, UVA, Pitt - but the rest has been good mixed with plays of mediocrity.
