Stop Blaming The Players

None of our players won individual matchups. None of them. F-ck them all. F-ck the coaches and mother**** all of the players. I wish them all the worst.
 
You sound like a guy that thinks the government can solve all your problems. No one should be held blameless. That starts at top and goes to bottom.

It does start at the top.

Your analogy would have merit if Americans saw themselves as a team.

We do not.

Our leaders are largely responsible for our selfish outlook.

The way our guys look and the things they do are inherent to poorly coached teams.

The players are not blameless but the policy and environment that they are supposed to assimilate to is not conducive to a culture of success.

The same concept applies to societies at large. The better they are run, the better people perform and the opposite is true as well.

Exceptional people will “pull themselves up by the boot straps” and be”self made”. Most people are not exceptional, they are ordinary.

This is where systems come into play. Good systems make the ordinary look exceptional and bad systems make the ordinary look terrible.

Thus the system is responsible for the outcome of most of the people who are a part of it.
 
Not saying players shouldn’t take some of the blame they should. Going out there and giving effort is something they have control over.
Putting them in a position to succeed on the field and putting the right players on the field is on the coaches . To come out not motivated or prepared coming off a by week is coaching. We maybe don’t have elite talent but , more than enough to beat the FIU’s of the world.
I see glimpses of what we can be but its fleeting.
But, I don’t see things changing until we have changes throughout. It’s just hard to swallow being in such a talent rich area and not being able to consistently win.
 
We’ve sworn off a lot of players who went on to make a lot of money and win a lot of games.

The problem is obvious. We’ve hired five straight coaches who will never be head coaches again. That might be a record.


And where are the cancer that infested this program and lead us to all these atrocious coaches, irrational extensions and buyout after buyout after buyout. Oh...here they are:

It has been ~20 years since our last relevant season. It is a simple fix. All we need is a competent AD with passion and autonomy. We haven't had one for a long time. We deserve better.

I don't disagree with most of what you wrote but your idea of exceptionalism to me isn't one based on luck or skill in this case. It is a mindset. So I agree most in society are complacent and can be referred as "sheeple" but it's because they don't care to do anything about it not because it requires some special aptitude.

The way this team plays is based on how much they care to win a game. They bring it when it is a quality opponent. The can give 2 flying f's when it is FIU. I am sure the coaches prep is the same.

There is no other way to explain it. Maybe they don't care about Manny, or any other coaches, etc. but the "system" is not what lost the game. I refuse to believe FIU has a better "system". Those guys just played harder and wanted it more than our guys.

Dancing on the sidelines is started by the assistants and GAs. Players are doing what they are told. We probably “CHART IT”

Wearing the rings and chain is also not optional
 
3/3 on abysmal performances after bye weeks. Thats not an indictment of the staff, its a conviction.
I said this earlier in the season. I gave them a pass for the UNC game but it was still a red flag. The VT game was the ultimate red flag and they just put the icing on the cake yesterday. There is no hope for this staff, period. Shut out at half time against FIU, LOL.
 
Players could have had a little pride and at least tackled someone. Players could have blocked someone. Players could have not thrown into triple coverage. But do you partner

2. Training and scheme have reduced the disparity in performance between players. The difference between non elite teams and bad teams is smaller than it has ever been.

Thinking you are entitled to beat a team just because you have better talent on paper results in losses. This starts with the coaching staff. If you think you can run any old bullshyt and win just because you have “better” players, you won’t be employed very long.

The coaches went through the motions with the game plan and the players followed suit with the effort. Disaster followed.

We have been complaining about the team playing down to the competition for over a decade. Five coaches now. Each of those coaches proved themselves to be fatally flawed and incompetent. It’s no wonder the players are in consistent no matter the year.

Failure breeds lethargy for the ordinary. This applies to what, 95% of the population? But there is also an intangible quality that comes with maximizing effort through leadership. It is the “it” factor where a leader has the proper body language and tone to inspire confidence in his organization because his presence is congruent with his words.

This is the MOST ignored but MOST important aspect of team performance. When momentum goes awry, the body tightens, reaction slows and performance is degraded by thinking. You are NEVER supposed to think on the field. You are supposed to see and attack and the ingrained memory of the repetition of your training determines the outcome in hand with your talent.

Yes we could have more competitive, hungry, self motivated guys, and resilient guys, but why don’t we already have them when it has been a problem for so long across so many coaches?

I say it’s because the players are not the real problem. They are young men with no experience. Groups of young men with no experience need leadership to succeed and generally perform in congruence with the quality of the leadership they receive.

Our track record of bonehead coaching decisions says we have not hired that type of leadership for a long time.

The players need to grow up. Doesn’t appear they have anyone to show them how to.

players could have pride period. Winning, being great, is not the players first goal at UM anymore. Hasn´t been for more than a decade. Not every player obviously but too many to keep the disease raging.

These guys are 18 year olds. They are not children. You would have a point if we were talking pee wee. These are young men that know how to play the game of football by now. Sure the coaches have to provide some structure, rules, and expectations which I am sure they do. But your entitlement comment hits the nail on the proverbial head.

That seems to be the poison that is seeping throughout the locker room. Manny alluded to it before the season even started. He and the coaches have still to get it fixed and the jury is still out if they even can. That is certainly their responsibility and where they will be held accountable and justifiably so.

I feel where you are coming from but it doesn’t always work like that from my personal playing experience.

I keep going back to the fact we have been talking about player entitlement for 15 years. Why is it such a problem for us specifically?

Many want to say it is the Florida players and we need to recruit elsewhere.

But Florida State won a Nartional title this decade with a roster dominated with Florida players. It didn’t fall apart until Jimbo fell apart when he was exposed as a beta cuck through a humiliating divorce. That guy will probably never be the same and he left FSU a raging inferno of combusting dumpster juice.

@Dude recounted a story about his experience in the military that I will always remember about the VAST difference in performance of his unit by just changing their commanding officer. It was eye opening and matched my experience with underachieving and overachieving football teams.
