I get what Deepseek claims to have done. I'm skeptical that it's any kind of a threat to Nvidia. I'd bet on companies going with what gives them a competitive advantage. That means producing more AI capacity.

Capitalism says otherwise. Nvda is the IBM of AI. That doesn’t means someone can’t hack an IBM to perform better OR go with a DecAlpha or Dell or compact. Thus, deekseek showed the world that the competitive advantage is to likely use Nvda chips but not the code. Imagine how good deep seek could be with the latest and greatest Nvda chips,

Actually NVDA is trading at the same price as early Sep. So going by that indicator, all things are equal.

Nvidia still gets sales. And code is easy to revise.

IBM failed to see the trend that had already developed in computing which has come full circle. Giant computer with multiple virtual machines became a network of small computers, which is now back to a central cluster of virtual machines.
 
@90scane and I have been the debbie downers, looks like we are finally here. S&P down +/- 10% from its high. Because of headline risks, its impossible to sense short term moves, but there is a fair amount of fear in the market, so I could see another leg down. Part of what is happening today is that China reported deflation in February, and if you assume they doctor their data, the real numbers could be really bad.

Nice to see some volatility again. Unfortunately, now having a mortgage. I can’t take advantage as much for these discounts…

I hear you. I have been waiting for my old primary to sell so i have cash to invest. Haven’t missed out yet on opportunities but if it doesn’t sell soon, i worry I’ll be renting it for years then having to 1031 out. Ugh!!!
