Seemingly a higher power has swooped in and sprayed some DT repellent on the fertile recruiting grounds of south florida. Correct me if im wrong but I haven't seen an elite 4 star or better DT here since Khairi Clark (not counting Valentine who relocated to miami for his senior year). Meanwhile the states of Louisiana, Georgia, Texas, Alabama, and even recently Cali has been churning out DTs like its nobody's business. Where have all the DTs gone and are there any on the horizon that Butch can sign next year and beyond?

even in state north of palm beach there are quality DTs...but nothing in the tri-county.

I think the best DT down here is Keir Thomas, and he will probably struggle on the next level

Maybe ASA Miami will attract some DTs

It's sort of mind boggling.

The last DT down here to be legit in college and NFL is corey Luiget? Class of 2008?

Am I missing someone?

Bosa is a more a DE right?

Both Bosa's can play DT/DE especially, I forgot about Nick.

It's a little strange how when JJ Watt exploded on to the NFL scene we already similar type players who can do it all from 3-4 DE spot

Both DT's from VA Tech madi n dadi will be the next good in college then NFL ( just a hunch). I don't know how they were in HS.

We got Moten and McIntosh the last couple years. I don't know if you'd call them "elite" though. (at least not yet)

Bosa can play any position on the D-line IMO. He's definitely elite.

I remember D'Onofrio saying that they were surprised on the lack of legit DT talent down here.

UM is in the Top 5 for 2016 Ben Frazier DT/NT from Buford, GA and if coaches stay on him I think he could fall to Miami by default, which would be ideal for Miami similar to the Kendrick Norton saga from the 2015 class.

I am also hoping Miami will make a run at 2016 SDE/DT Tashawn Manning from Wekiva HS in Orlando, FL he is coached by former UM great Kenard Lang.

There are a few others that could come into play later during the season or just before signing day. But Dline recruiting is cyclical an this cycle OOS recruiting is better than instate and especially south florida.

Go Canes

Little Bosa's not a DT at all. Big Bosa can play whatever the **** he wants. Kid's an animal.

Why did you post about the first two guys when they have literally nothing to do with the OP's question? Just curious.

In six-ten years hopefully the weight change rules in optimist causes more linemen to come out of the 305/954

Valid f'ing point...

This year...zero!

Nothing last year...zero!

The year before, Valentine, Clark and Moten. That's it. Apparently we got the best one...

In 2013 - drama queen Bryant was the only one.

It's kind of crazy.!?

OP do you think elite DT's grow on trees like this young man (2016 DT/NT Kendall Jones).

They played at Atlantic High in Delray. 55 min from UM. One of their coaches called UM about them and was told they didn't have enough size.

Messes with my head every time I see them living in somebody's backfield just like they did in HS.

maybe they will develop into something but I didn't consider them elite coming out of high school....not even close. just guys with potential.

others may disagree, but I don't consider him a DT.

looooooool. as if he was going to sign any if there were. this staff couldn't get elite DTs if their lives depended on it.

Clark is elite? The last one i remember was valentine, and before him id say forston (coming out of high school) SFL isnt really a place for DTs, we good everywhere else just not DTs

Even coaching down here, I rarely see/face D-1 DT talent. Most recent one was McIntosh but other than him I can't remember the last D-1 caliber DT I've seen personally. Cupboard is pretty bare down here. Maybe it's cause all of the private schools have a monopoly on them, I don't know.
