Stewart Mandel projects that we get in under one scenario only

I think the key is Duke winning.....thats it.

The CFP was built on P4 conference tournament, there is no world when not at least one P4 team for each conference is represented in the CFP. The two G5 rule was implemented in as an outlier but not without at least one P4 team represented in the playoffs.

NOW WAY A P4 TEAM IS NOT REPRESENTED IN THE CFP!!!

Just need Duke to win

Another path: Duke Win, JMU Loss, BYU loss. Then I believe an extra at large bid is born because the second group of 5 team (Troy or winner of Bosie St/UNLV won’t be ranked.

Really just need Texas Tech and Bama to win or lose close if that happens they will stay at 9 and Miami and ND will be flipped.

Just a note:

No one is talking about the comment made at the very end of the televised interview:

"At the conclusion of the conference championship games, the committee is going to re-rank the entire field of 25"

Who knows what that really means....
Feels like that comment was just building up drama for Sunday's show where we still get left out.

What about this other scenario I keep hearing people like Pate discuss regarding a Duke win over Virginia? The theory being, if Duke wins they obviously won’t put them in, but the committee doesn’t want the black eye of a conference getting completely left out so they would basically be forced to put Miami in at that point. Do you think there’s any merit to this?

Yeah, but within that P4 the ACC is the redheaded stepchild and it’s really the P2 running the show. ACC/Big 12 are just along for the ride.

I don’t think anyone on the committee cares if the ACC gets left out. It’s not their fault the conference sucks and has the dumbest of all time tiebreakers.

By far our best chance is BYU loss/Bama win. This isn’t even remotely close to a debate.

That’s not the only possible path, nor is that one even a lock. But it’s absolutely our best chance.

Best case: Bama win/Texas Tech win
Worst case: Bama win/Texas Tech loss

We have a very outside shot if Bama loses and Texas Tech wins, but it all depends where the committee moves (drops) Bama

The first game is noon Saturday. If Texas Tech wins, all eyes on Atlanta. If BYU wins, I guess acknowledge your family/drink heavily. It’s ovah.
I like that the early game is on Saturday. If BYU wins then we can FINALLY be put out of our misery. This has been the longest 3 weeks of football I can remember. However, if BYU loses then we will watch an SEC championship that half will think it's better for BAMA to win and Half to lose understanding that either scenario doesn't really matter to this circus show committee. Pure ****.

A 3 loss Bama isn’t getting into the playoffs.. them losing + BYU would mean Miami and ND both make the playoffs.

This is just wrong. Bama is not getting left out. They will drop to 10 and ND back to 9. Hence “idle teams moving”

A bama win puts them up in The rankings and drops UGA a few spots (but not down to 10)

We want a BYU loss and Bama win

Duke winning could help stir the spot of gettin an acc team in for us to flip flop with ND

All this to say this could all happen and they will probably still leave us out over ND

Total bs but it is what it is. Next year we play them in November, where it supposedly will matter more. Just hope we can kick their *** again and this time don’t let the foot off the gas either

I would also add UVA loss needs to be included as well.

There's just no way ACC is getting 2 teams in when you consider how p*ss poor the conference performed this year.
