Stephen A. On CFP

They already lost their “playoff” game to LSU. I don’t like putting teams in that have already lost to another team in it that won’t play for their conference title as well.

The conference titles need to have a meaning in this whole deal. If you win your conference and have the resume you need you deserve to be in.

Say Texas went 11-1 with their early loss to LSU and ended up winning the big 12. I would be ok with them getting in because it was early in the year. They might deserve another chance.

A team that ended their season with a loss doesn’t deserve to be in the playoff
But not all power 5 conference are created equal.

Utah and Baylor would blow out Alabama this year... Bama defense ain’t stopping nobody from scoring.

Cancel the regular season. Just put Clemson Georgia, Bama, and OSU in the playoff every year. That sound about right?

There's a **** ton of hypocrisy going on in this thread.

Let's say the University of Miami DIDN'T have the THE worst administration in the country and hires THE ****TIEST HEAD COACHES in the country and that the program was running as it should and we were a perennial top 5 team (like we should be).

Then, let's suppose Miami DIDN'T play in the worst conference in the country and actually played a tough schedule. If we, as Miami fans, endured two close losses to two good teams mostly because we were missing our star, ready to be first round drafted quarterback.....we'd all be losing our God **** minds.

Strength of schedule should ABSOLUTELY be rewarded. It stops teams like UCF and Boise St back in the day who benefit from not having to handle the rigors of weekly tough competition from back dooring the easy way into the playoffs. Anyone can beat anyone on ONE WEEK. Boise did beat Oklahoma in a bowl back then....but the question is could Boise have beaten that same Oklahoma team, that same year, after having to go through a gauntlet of at least 3 or 4 other tough games? The answer is absolutely ******* **** no.

Say what you want, and God knows Stephen A is wrong a ton....but it doesn't mean he's not right here. You want the best teams in the playoffs, not the best records.

I can’t say I disagree.
I disagree with Stephen. Is BAMA more talented? Well, it's the highest paid team in the country and I don't mean the coaches. If BAMA played its A game and Utah played its A game, does BAMA win? Uh, yeah, by 30+. But, that's why the play the games. Also, teams have to EARN their way in, and BAMA dropped two games and won't even play for their Conference's championship.

Can Utah beat BAMA? 1,000,000,000%!!! This is why they play the game!

Bottom line is, you have to earn your way in!!

Having said al that, if the top 4 teams all play their A games, Clemson wins 2 in a row, but again, that's why they play the game(s)!!

The “best” team doesn’t win each game and certainly doesn’t win the title every year. If we decide to play it that way then what’s the point anymore?

People are obsessed with getting to the "right" outcome. If the analytics say so, or if a team is clearly more "talented," than that team is the best and they should win. Actual results on the field be damned, they should win and if they don't, it means something went "wrong." Maybe there was a bad call, or their best player was injured that day, or the sun was in his eyes, whatever other excuse.

Even if that wrong thing was losing to Auburn last game of the season that doesn't matter, they are still better even though they lost. Asinine way to view sports. And you are right what is the point when it comes to that.

******* stupid take.
College football is different, the season itself is a playoff. It’s what makes regular season college football great, a game in September is just as important as a game in November.
I personally preferred the pre playoff system. My only concession would have been for the #1 team to get a bye and #2 and #3 have a play in game. Going anything past a 4 team playoff would cheapen college football and kill what made it unique, which was that the entirety of the season was a death struggle to claw your way to the top.

Who's earned it not who's the best or what if this team we think is the best. Win your conference

The bama suckfest is ridiculously at an all time high
Funniest thing is when the reporters ridicule people for saying bama drops bags
